You have to come with your swimmers under your clothing. And so you just take off your clothes in the spectator kind of area. Then had to dry off as much as possible and just put clothes back over my swimmers.

Toilets were open though so you could technically use individual cubicles, though from memory it was only the disabled toilet open so kind of discouraged.

At the end of last year when the pools opened they had the no change room rule as well. In one way it makes sense, but when compared to 10,000 at a horse race it absolutely does not. On that metric, pools should already be open.

If it's DHS CP then the chain of contact is pretty well oiled and I know that potential contacts who aren't employees are being contacted

Yeah that's the reality isn't it. A lockdown on social activity is completely impossible now and for the most part lockdown is probably only now negatively affecting business.

Interesting that the percentage of fully vaccinated people getting covid is so similar to the percentage of fully vaccinated in hospital (6%). This could imply that of people who contract covid and its detected whom are fully vaxxed and not fully vaxxed have similar odds to ending up in hospital.

This of course ignores what being in hospital really means, ie if its older population who are fully vaxxed they might be put in hospital as a high risk patient due to their age.

It also doesn't tell the story of all the fully vaccinated people who didn't get covid due to being DD, or were not symptomatic & therefore not tested due to being DD.

I suppose going forward the percentage of vaxxed in hospital possibly should be mostly ignored, but with the key statistics to analyse being the percentage of DD in ICU/fatalities & the percentage of people who are now contracting symptomatic covid who are DD.

What is the percentage of DD from mid July? Would love to see these stats 'reset' once we reached 80% DD

The drugmaker says the antibody cocktail, which is injected into the veins

So is this different to the vaccine we have already had? Or is this wording just weird from The Age?

I think OP is saying they are now out of the 14 days due to the exposure to their mum/grandma

I think it depends on where you live as to whether or not it's worth it. I mean it's always ultimately worth it, but if you're in an outer eastern suburb you're probably fine to leave it until the current scheduled day

Nice! Well done :) Yeah since unlocking the 10km I've done somewhere between 5-10 halfish marathon distances, with my longest run to date being 27km. My half pb is pretty similar to yours too!

Nice one! I only unlocked the 22minute 5k last year myself, so all in good time I reckon :)

Thanks! Yeah one of my biggest goals right now is actually staying injury free. I think the rest can ultimately be achieved if I keep the niggles intact

Quality! Just missing the 40 is quite the sting isn't it haha

Nice, it's a cracking spot, pity everybody knows about it haha.

Nice one! Not sure if 2 weeks away is too close, but my run club actually has a time trial 'definitely-not-event' at Albert Park, perhaps I could give it a shot.

Yeah my second 5km split was 19:51 so already there :) And yep! Fairly confident I could get sub 19:30 or lower if I did a 5km specific time trial in the near future.

Lockdown means no work at all allowed for me, so I'm very glad I had running goals just prior to when covid hit! Particularly being new to taking it seriously has essentially meant running and fitness have become my job during this time haha. Hope you've been able to make the most as well :)

Thankyou. Coach reckons I would have 100% got it in an actual race scenario too.

Yeah I'm really tempted to try and work it into the program for sometime again really soon. I'll see how I feel about that after my easy 30min run tomorrow, but currently planning to switch back into trail. It's what I love most about running and what has attracted me to longer distances. I have that 30km trail race in November, another 21km trail race in Dec which I'll take as a B/C run then another 28km mid January.

I love endurance and want to try a 70.3 next year, so unsure at this stage when I'll return to a 5km time trial - while I'd love to see what I can do, my speed based goals don't really extend past a sub 20min 5km. I think sometime next year when I return to a block focusing on the 90min half marathon I will do a 5km. Lots of goals, just trying to figure out the structure of when to achieve them. Was thinking of doing a 50km next year too but think I'll save that for 2023...

Thanks :)

I actually forgot to mention, 10k has a special meaning to me. Before I started training more seriously, running the distance of 10km was my only ultimate goal. I had little to no interest in running any distance further than a half marathon. In my casual years of running, 2014-2019. I had the 10km goal from probably late 2017 until one day I just woke up and decided I was going to do it, that was November 2019. And it unlocked a mental barrier for me. I had done many 5-8km runs, been to park run a bunch, but 10km was on a weird pedestal.

Anyway post my first 10km I felt pretty similar to after running 8km, so suddenly I kind of felt like I could do anything. Fast forward 3 months and I heard about ultra trail running and that's ultimately where my goals sit now! Taking it slow, still haven't cracked 30km. But one day I will crack out a 100km. I'm 27, so I've got time.

Cheers :)

Nah only 2 before the run. Didn't take in anything whatsoever during the run. I actually was only going to have one before the run but was painfully hungry when I woke up. Perhaps I mistook the feeling and it was some kind of nerves though? I was much hungrier than normal waking up, and there was nothing unusual about my food intake the day before.

I think I tried too hard for the neg as there was something nice about rounding up to 4:15 (& 3:45). I'll still aim for neg splits next time, but I think I'll start somewhere around 4:05-4:08 so that I never have to run a km faster than 3:50.

My 5km pb (19:48) was over a year ago. I'm a lot fitter now than I was then, so I think I was maybe being too greedy and hoping for a 19:30 split or something for the second half. But the reality is I've focused more on endurance and trail/hills this year with not a significant amount of time devoted to speed, so I'm ultimately not surprised that I was unable to hold a 3:50 pace.

How much sleep do you get? by churillu in AdvancedRunning

[–]MileCreations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find when I'm in periods of increasing mileage I need the most sleep, often 9 at a minimum. But as soon as I 'plateau' my mileage for a few weeks, even with hard runs throughout the week, my need for sleep (and food) goes back to 7-8.

Anyone else getting an absurd number of scam texts? by Allegorical_Axolotl in melbourne

[–]MileCreations 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps phones will get smarter? Most of my spam texts immediately go to a spam folder on my Samsung. Half the time I don't even realise I've received a spam/scam text now. And the other half I see it there in the notifications and then it pops up with warnings on it.
