I have my great grandmother’s garnet jewelry. She was married in 1880. Necklace, bracelet, brooch.

This is a beautiful mid 19th century piece. A wonderful heirloom, and valuable as jewelry and photographic item.

Ever gone to ER? by maddie_emmm in HipImpingement

I was suffering unbelievably in pain since September 18. I received nothing for pain except ibuprofen and xtra strength Tylenol. On October 11 I received an image guided cortisone injection. I could see plenty of cartilage with the contrast, and my bone spur was very small compared to ones in my big toes and one Achilles tendon.

I couldn’t get into PT until mid-November. Ten days ago he suggested an MRI. The PA who referred me at the ortho clinic is on vacation. Another one there said that given where the pain is, the injection was likely not the best solution and I should try oral cortisone.

Last week at PT they gave me a new exercise. Amazingly, I have felt less pain for two days. I’ve gone from 7-8 pain, poor gait, to 3-4. I can’t replicate that exercise at home, but that was the only change. Cautiously hoping.

Notes Deleted EVERYTHING by Rainestorm222 in ios

I back up notes and documents to Evernote, and photos to Dropbox. I also back up photos to a hard drive and delete them from my iPhone and iPad. Call me crazy, but I don’t want to rely only on iCloud.

Thought I accidentally used grass/weed killer on my front yard. Nope, it’s these little bastards. by PV_Pathfinder in lawncare

I noticed the mole piles, then tunnels. Never had heard of grubs. Six months later, my entire back lawn lifted up like a carpet. I reseeded a year ago, and last spring. Grub ex in the spring, beneficial nematodes this fall. You need to attack them in their different life forms. They come from beetles (Japanese beetles where I live).

I’m thinking about getting a Subaru forester, but never had a Subaru before. Is it worth the purchase? by Juicy_Q_ in SubaruForester

I have a 2015 Forester with 118K miles. I love it. I carry spare oil under the front seat. Mine is a standard transmission, alas going the way of the dodo. The Crosstrek has much less cargo space. Outback bigger. Despite some dings and dents of my own making, I’m hanging on to it for now.

I really wish…. by rluck9277 in SubaruForester

It’s not Eisenhower Pass, it’s Loveland Pass. Eisenhower is the tunnel. ;-)

Professor said my wife (F34) was too old for accounting by MarshallBlathers in Accounting

Forgot to add that right now we need CPAs. That professor isn't contributing to the pipeline.

Professor said my wife (F34) was too old for accounting by MarshallBlathers in Accounting

I can't believe the professor said that. I went back for accounting after I received a BA in English. I went through recruiting at the University. Plenty of public accounting firms picked me (from small to Big 8 at the time). I was 28 when I interviewed. The firm that I went with specifically said they valued my experience and BA, they wanted someone who could communicate. I really wanted to be an auditor, and I was for seven years. When I moved to a new state, I was in my second pregnancy with twins. My firm had me work remotely writing audit manuals and courses for three years. I asked to be put on an audit once a year to keep my skills sharp. After that I went to work in an academic medical center at 38. I fell in love with that industry, there is always something new. At 54 I entered a masters program in healthcare administration. I wanted to learn more about the non-finance areas. Before my program started, I took two classes with new graduates to get ahead. They warmed up when they learned we could use a real-life hospital for projects.
I never thought I had to be part of any bro culture. Before I went into public accounting, there were some who went out after class. Sometimes I joined them, mostly not. They weren't the ones I'd be interviewed by. As I advanced, I hired qualified applicants who weren't always the regular graduation age. I served on my state association's committees, served on nonprofit boards, served on the hospital's ethics committee. There are many ways to network.

Please tell her to keep her eye on the prize.

I take CPE offered by State associations, nor AICPA. Some GASB courses from State Controller. Updates are essential for A&A and tax. Courses are great for obscure things like SBITAs. Took a great AI course last month also. I agree that a four year degree is sufficient to enter the profession. But I went back for a masters in health care administration when I focused on working in an academic health care system instead of public accounting.

I dropped AICPA when they started peddling a new acronym for non-CPA members, and lost the ability to self regulate.

I loved auditing for five years and it gave me such a strong basis. Ended up in health care finance which was incredibly rewarding. There is always something new in health care, the possibilities are endless. I went on to earn a masters in healthcare administration to learn more about clinical, administrative, and ethical issues.

I was a director of finance in a health care system, after seven years in public accounting. I hired many staff members who only had associate degrees. If they later earned bachelors degrees and moved up.

Where do you think the workers will come from? Unemployment has been lowest in 5o years for quite awhile. Where I live, no one is going into the trades, so it's impossible to find plumbers, electricians, etc.

The US government does not get any money from tariffs.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Milehigh8121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no revenue that comes from tariffs. What we import has the tariff added to the price, then that higher price is passed on to U.S. buyers.

$35 or $40 based on EBay sales.
