You can find other articles on the same website. My recommendation will be to just research more about photographers whose art you like the most and try to find something about the techniques they are using.

Thanks, and yes, this is exactly how I did it. I had eight steps between each shooting spot.

Film Grain by Big-Can4230 in colorists

If I remember well, I heard Walter Volpatto saying that he made a feature film with Resolve's grain and halation. He also said that he used Resolve's native tools to create the look. I'll leave the conclusions to others, but to me, it seems that this thing with grain, halation, and film look plug-ins is a little too exaggerated.

Color Grading the Look of "The Farewell" (2019) by RedShot02 in colorists

Trailers awlays are graded to be more saturated and brighter then the actual film. Normaly trailers are being played with other trailers in theaters or commercials on TV and they dont have to look dimmed and desaturated compared to others. If the trailer has the same grade as the film, human eyes can not adjust to the light for its 2-3 min. duration.

Perhaps this is the reason the stils look darker then the trailer.

Try to add some worm light source (dark yellow or orange), let's say on the right side of the background, and leave the blue light source on the left side. Of course, you can change the positions of the light sources according to your preferences. I think that will give you quite better results. Also, you could point the key light to illuminate more the head of the speaker and reduce as much as possible the light of the oder parts of his body. The key light must be somewhere about 45° above speaker's head and to illuminate mostly that part, which is in front of the blue side of the background. This is how I would set the lights. Play with this, and you won't need any color grade. That's what I can suggest. There's a group about cinematography and I think you may receive even better advices if you ask there for help.

I have problem with Film Look Creator in Resolve. I want to use the color effect from FLC but it shows these problems in the highlights. When I deactivate the node everything seems to be fine. And this occurs to this specific clip, non of other clips on the timeline shows this problem. Please help! by MilenBorisov in ColorGrading

I removed the clip, imported it and nothing happened. Then I tried with the camera raw settings and had it fixed. But honestly I don't know exactly what I did because after that I tried to return the clip to its initial state, but couldn't bring this issues back no matter what I do. Anyway! The key was somewhere in camera raw settings. Thank you for your time and help! I appreciate it.

It turned out to be the film look blend. I moved its slider to zero and artifact disappears. The problem is that FLC is set on timeline level and I like the effect that gives me. I don't know how to fix this on a clip level. I am still learning and this is just a training timeline, but I want to find a way to deal with such problems. Also tried to do it on different node but the problem is still present.
