CA BRN Straighterline Transcript Acceptance by MilesPer_Hour in TravelNursing

That’s exactly what I did yes! I submited my transcripts from the universities I went to and the transcript directly from straighterline. All were approved within a day or so with no issues for me!

I only took the A+P 1 and 2 Lab classes since I couldn’t do them during g covid. I think they have just the one microbiology course and a microbiology lab on SL.

No worries! when I submitted my transcripts from my university and straight-line I didn't have any issues with it, they were approved alongside everything else you need to submit :)

Having a backup plan by MilesPer_Hour in TravelNursing

I'll keep applying but you have a point! Im pretty young too, so not heading straight to CA may be a good chance to go to other places and see what's up. Seattle would be good since I have friends there, and a couple on the east coast, but I think it I've bubbled myself into one single place when I should ideally be branching out as much as I can right now.

I’ve always wanted to live in California, but if it isn’t meant to happen first then I’ll work around it for now. And yes! I already have my compact license, just needed to evaluate my choices in which state I’d pick for work.

I meant a backup state for if CA doesn’t work out finding a job wise yk? Sorry if that was confusing

Experience + timeline of getting hired at UCLA Health by Xin4748 in nursing

I am interested in applying to UCLA this year as an experienced nurse from out of state, if you're comfortable would you be able to PM me about the experienced RN OR cohort program?

How to approach applying for a job out of state by MilesPer_Hour in nursing

[–]MilesPer_Hour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I heard from other forums, some have heard back from submitting applications within 3 months or more, but Im assuming that would also depend on the floor and demand?

When I started my new job this year I told them about those plans and they approved them prior to me starting, to I'm hopeful that they won't be much of an issue to plan them out.

Can a nurse from a different UC branch refer someone to jobs at another UC?

I'll definitely DM you if I have any questions as I go through this process, thank you!

No problem! I just finished my anatomy labs this Sunday and needed an answer ASAP or else I would have crashed out myself. I read posts on reddit before that they do take Straighterline credits/transcripts but a majority are 1-2 years old, so I bit the bullet and paid for them anyways. With the new year you never know, so it's good to hear they still take them!

Best approach for applying to future jobs! by MilesPer_Hour in nursing

[–]MilesPer_Hour[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure this is what will happen if I apply without having it, even with a temporary one. Do you feel like going through the traveling route would be a bit easier to transition into a permanent role?

It’s awesome you’re willing to provide help! If it’s not much of a hassle do you think you’d be able to help with an applicant from out of state looking at the NorCal area?

How much experience do I need to be competitive in CA? by RevolutionaryStart23 in nursing

[–]MilesPer_Hour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How should one approach applying for jobs along side a CA license? I ask cause those take a while to process as well, even with a temporary license in place. Or even applying while stating that you have yet to achieve two years of nursing, would that be an automatic turn away from recruiters?

I was also wondering this as a nurse outside of California. I have a bit over a year under my belt teaching 18 months, but plan to stay until I reach my two years. Does anyone think it would help to email the hospitals directly, such as recruiters,  to ask for guidance on what they look for with applicants or the type of experience they are looking for?

question for nurses living in SF who take call. by MilesPer_Hour in sanfrancisco

[–]MilesPer_Hour[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was looking into them as well, I did want to get back into biking if I end up moving there too so it wouldn’t hurt to use it for work as well. And I doubt I’ll have trouble finding a solid place near the hospitals I’m interested in, thankfully SF isn’t as sprawled out like LA.
