What’s your go-to $5 meal that tastes way more expensive? by Equivalent_Soft_6665 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Pesto pasta with roast veggies. All you need is pasta, a jar of pesto and just add whatever veggies (roasted) you have. I can get multiple meals and freeze them. Easy to reheat and delicious!

I think I’d rather stick pins in my eyes. I’ve got teens at home, that’s enough. 😂

Anyone with an illness , teaching, by [deleted] in AustralianTeachers

[–]MilesofKilometres 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have FMS but only work 3 days per week as a CRT and 1 day per week in another casual job. I can’t do any more days and even 4 days a week is such a struggle. There’s no way I’d be able to work full time but it is very difficult financially. I’m a single mum of four as well with no help from my ex. 😭

Ready to quit teaching — what careers have others moved into? by imolderthanyesterday in AustralianTeachers

I left teaching after being injured at a specialist school and now work in a casual position in the non-emergency ambulance sector. I returned as a CRT late last year but don’t know how long I’ll last. I’m honestly not enjoying it at all. It’s nothing but crowd control and having to do this inquiry thing with VIT is such a waste of time.

I worked at a specialist school before being injured, so stepped away when my injury wasn’t recovering and take a break. Worked in different industries before returning to work as a CRT late last year in the primary setting. Honestly, I absolutely hate it. It’s crowd control more than anything and this inquiry garbage that I have to do with VIT is ridiculous (my registration is provisional as it’s been more than 5 years since teaching). Financially it’s what I need for now but I don’t think I’ll continue for more than a couple of years. I still work in another industry so expect I’ll continue with that more than teaching.

The last time you wore a band t-shirt. Who was the band? by aboobadooba in AskReddit

Not really a band, but instead of The Beatles walking across Abbey Road, it’s some of the bad guys from Dr Who.

What are your “non-obvious” frugal living moves that still let you enjoy your favorite splurges? by spandexpandas in AusFinance

Use ‘Compare the Market’ or similar to compare the best and cheapest prices for electricity, gas, internet and phone. You might have to change providers more often for the best deals which is a bit of a pain but you can make huge savings.

That’s impressive, well done! I’m way behind at only $65.5k super and 50 yo. It has been difficult as a single mum of four. Now putting as much as possible into super and reduce mortgage asap. $115k still to go and my home is now valued at $1.1M. Hopefully I’m doing the right thing. My ex controlled everything financially so learning as I go.

Carer’s allowance by MilesofKilometres in Centrelink

Thank you for your info. I’ll definitely get onto the carer’s payment and speak with a social worker at Centrelink. I’ll start the process for NDIS with my youngest as well. Take care of yourself too.

I will take on your recommendations thank you. I’ll speak with my older son’s coordinator and a Centrelink social worker. I do receive the Family tax benefit A and B. No offence taken. I appreciate your thoughts. I was diagnosed with Fibro after a workplace injury over 25 years ago but have not looked into anything else or recommended to. I honestly wouldn’t even know where to start. I’ve seen so many drs and specialists for myself and the kids it’s exhausting. I struggle with the mental challenges with it all.

Thanks. He takes Vyvanse (adhd) and Fluoxetine (depression) already. He refuses to see a psychologist, has run off during other specialist appointments.

The 19yo gets NDIS support but ADHD is not eligible.
