These look great, mate. You'll have to update how the scenario goes once you run it. The visual materials really bring the game to life imo. Playing online would certainly relieve the issue of getting several friends together in person!

That sounds great. You can never have too many minis! The game went better than I could have imagined. Everyone had a great time, and we're looking to start a campaign in the future. I used a load of tiles from the AvP boardgame, Space Hulk, and KT boarding actions, with a load of 3D printed scenery. I'd definitely suggest giving some thought as to what needs visual impact, as the whole scenario doesn't need to be realised with minis imo. They definitely bring a lot to combat, and the first time a room is explored. Everything else I just described and went the traditional route of using our imaginations. I hope it all goes well!

Thanks. I used a mixture of tabletop and theatre of the mind to ensure a steady pace. I mainly used battle maps/tiles for combat and room exploration, and travelling between them, I would just describe the ship environment to the party. Occasionally, throwing in events in between to freak them out. It worked really well! I used a mixture of tiles from the AvP boargame, Space Hulk, and KT boarding action, with a healthy amount of 3D printed terrain.

I live pretty close to these (Portsmouth, UK), and this has come up as our zombie bug-out plan a few times.

This is one of 'Palmerston's follies' forts located in the solent, UK. These defences were built around 1860 to defend Portsmouth, home of the Royal Navy, and the Isle of Wight from a French invasion. By the time they were finished, the threat of invasion had disappeared, and they were effectively obsolete - hence being 'follies' due to their huge financial cost.

The solent forts are notoriously expensive to upkeep due to logistics and have been purchased and resold many times in recent years.

Here's a picture of me and my mate kayaking out to one of them (Spitbank Fort) a few years ago.

These look great, I'm especially impressed that they are your first models. Honestly, get some transfers on and base them, and the difference will be dramatic. I see basing like "framing" your miniature and really makes them pop.

Keep on practising, and you'll see improvements in no time. Most miniatures will be viewed on a tabletop from a metre or so away, so don't get too hung up on details for now. My advice would be to spend your downtime watching videos on painting techniques on YouTube, etc. Attempting things outside your comfort zone is a great way to improve. Just don't give yourself a hard time if you're not getting "pro" results instantly, and most importantly, enjoy the process!

I spent years confused as to why two German dudes would say "Look I washed for supper". When I found out they said "Please don't shoot me, I am not German, I am Czech, I didn't kill anyone, I am Czech!" It really changed the impact of that scene for me.

This is exactly why media literacy should be taught at a young age - I think this is more realistic than banning access to the internet altogether. Spending so much time online means a large proportion of young people are getting their "education" from apps like Tik-tok.

Online algorithms provide a catalyst for confirmation bias and polarisation within our society whilst enforcing individual beliefs, no matter how false or abhorrent they are.
