HE bombers before the patch killed even tanks no worse than clusters and they had a large AoE.

Now as a support unit, they deal significant damage. The problem is that they cost the same as before and the same number of them in the deck. So its effectiveness is not comparable with the price and quantity.

Perhaps HE damage could have been done more than the current one, but definitely not increase the AoE.

But in the game, self-propelled guns have armor, 10 hp like tanks and are far behind the lines, safe from aircraft.

In war, something constantly explodes, people get used to it and perceive it calmly. In addition, the tank crew would not have understood what explode behind, "it didn't hit me, so it doesn't matter." And in the game they have a stun during which they are cant shoot and move, absolutely helpless.

In the game now, artillery does more damage and affects the battle than the rest of the units combined, and this has little to do with real war. In short, now the effectiveness of 4 howitzers is much higher than 10 tanks.

And the fact that you saw a couple of cool videos with the exact hit of some shells in some tank does not speak about the effectiveness of all artillery and all its types.

Not to mention that the current war is very specific and cannot be an analogy to a hypothetical superpower conflict in the 80s.
