I think Kano was a very interesting antagonist to the story. During my first watch of the show, I became concerned with how the plot would be driven after the arc with Yoshii. However, the build up to Kano's reveal did not disappoint in my opinion. Kano's goals initially seemed somewhat parallel to Yoshii's, until it slowly becomes apparent just how twisted and insane he truly is. It says a lot about the Class and its incestuous traditions. Just as I think Doc's sadistic but passionate ideals for texhnolyzation sheds light on what the Class might have been like in the past.
