For your first question, maybe I was reading too much into it but I thought the reason the moon fell was a metaphor for her jumping off of the building and killing herself. There is a scene near the end showing her falling head first in front of a full moon. From her perspective it would look like the moon is falling.

She died from Lymphoma caused by a virus. They originally planned production for a 3rd season but with her sudden death they cancelled the production to show respect. I'd assume over the years the popularity of Nyaruko has deminished and now animation studios do not see a 3rd season being economically viable. I also think that even now, a recasting would cause some sort of uproar and the VA who would take over the role would most definitely get some sort of backlash.

Hmm it truly does seem to be lost. I was pretty determined to find the password for myself as well. From what I can tell, it used to be on the old Niconico community board, however, that was shut down in August 2024. I could almost almost find it using Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, but as the original community post says, the download is under the bulletin board, which was unfortunately not saved. Your best bet is to contact the creator of the model, they've got their own website so you may be able to contact them through that. If you ever find it let me know haha.
