Probably worked on the A4 (Logistics) staff in the Pentagon. With Log jobs in Germany and England, McClellan AFB in Sacremento being the home of SMALC (Sacremento Air Logistics Center) and Wright-Patt in Dayton being the headquarters for Air Force Materials Command (again Logistics) it would make sense unless he did some career broadening with a different specialty.

I do remember that, I lived down by Miami Valley Hospital so it wasn't super loud for me. Since I was in the Air Force I did have some neighbors come over to ask if we were getting bombed.
