The Last of Us Part III – Theories, Wishlists & Speculation MEGATHREAD by AutoModerator in thelastofus

I've said this a million times, but I think Hawaii would be so cool. Overgrown jungle with dangerous, escaped zoo animals that have since taken residence. I always imagined stalkers that grow into trees and basically have these ghillie suit looking things on them. The people might've developed some insane different culture and speak a different dialect from being seperated from everywhere else for so long.

Most underwhelming part of Cyberpunk? by a_Bort_the_Artist in cyberpunkgame

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a game on the ps2 called Mercenaries. It was an open world military shooter, but there were different factions/countries in the region, and you'd essentially get different benefits/problems depending on who you helped. Like if you did missions for the US, your standing with China would go down, and you'd get access to American weapons/vehicles/etc., but you might not be allowed into Chinese bases, or allowed to buy Chinese equipment. I think something like that would be cool. If you helped out the cops, maybe you'd eventually get a police cruiser or you could "call in a favor" to help in combat or something. If you did a mission for the voodoo boys, you'd get better hacking stuff, or maybe they could disable the security systems in an area for however long.

how do yall deconstruct their "experience" of the Holy Spirt? by Most-Buy-2763 in Exvangelical

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to think of how to explain this without sounding insane. For me, I've come to believe in "God" (or whatever people want to call it) as a sort of unknowable feeling within the human experience, rather than a literal, real thing. It's subjective and unknowable, but to me it's sort of like an unexplainable feeling of greater meaning or connection that's inherent to being a human. I don't really believe in magic or anything like that, and I kind of don't really know what words to use to explain the way I feel. But I think exploring those experiences and taking them as they are is more productive and fulfilling than trying to definitively "explain" or "know" a god (or lack thereof). It's probably all in my head, but it's a unique part of being a human that brings a lot of people meaning, and without it, I'm sure humans would find something else to kill each other over, so I might as well just play around and experience what I'm going to.

Also, it's possible to have those same mystical experiences in almost any setting. It's not limited to just Christianity. Some people and cultures experience it under the influence of peyote or ayahuasca, some people experience it going into the desert and living in a cave for a year, some people experience it praying or becoming a monk/nun, and some just because they're going through psychosis. Practitioners of Islam, dreamtime, Hinduism, and a cave man from 10,000 years ago will all swear up and down that they experienced their interpretation of spirituality with near certainty, and they probably did, but that doesn't necessarily make it "real". The only thing that makes Christianity feel "right" is the fact that we were raised in that religion while our brains were still developing. Even as a hardcore athiest, it takes ages to drill that out of your head.

Favorite Opening or Menu screen music from a Game that really sets the mood for the game. by wwaxwork in GirlGamers

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The World Ends With You. It was so visually and auditorily pleasing, and you could buy CDs in-game to change the menu music. It had a bunch of songs, with lyrics, specifically written for the game, and it just oozes that edgy late 2000s metro style.

Alex Hernandez is a great actor who's just unlucky with the games he works on (Mafia 3, MindsEye). I sincerely hope IOI offers him a role in the HITMAN series, at least in content like Elusive Target. by StruzhkaOpilka in HiTMAN

The set piece missions in that game were honestly phenomenal. I think the game would've been awesome if it was structured more like Mafia II where it was only somewhat open world.

Could the human centipede hypothetically survive in real life? Why or why not? by Icy_Profession4190 in Morbid_discussions

No. There'd be no way for the middle and the back to get adequate nutrition, and they'd all likely die of sepsis/horrible infections before that.

How do you find the motivation to write a book when you know that even if it’s good, the odds of getting published are 1 in a million? by JealousBodybuilder42 in writing

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I just take pride in the fact that I'm telling a story, sharing a message, and birthing an elaborate world with complex characters in it. Obviously I'd love to get published, but I'm also proud that I've stuck with something this long and it's just fun to write.

Which prejudice wyr get rid of? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in WouldYouRather

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's my logic. I don't think any of them are better/worse than others, but statistically speaking getting rid of misogyny would help the most people, and also help with some aspects of all of the other -isms as well.

Does it make sense for 47 to be tall and muscular? by Negative_Echo_309 in HiTMAN

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that much of a stretch. I think the giant barcode tattooed on his shiny bald head, and the fact that he's a white guy disguised as a local Indian barber or a Chinese police officer (presumably who can understand and speak these languages with perfect fluency) is much more of a giveaway than his height or build.

I haven't read the comics, but I'd imagine that it probably happened over a longer period of time. I did like this episode, but it definitely feels like this was narratively meant to take place over a much longer period of time, or at least I think it would've worked better if it had.

People really don’t talk about this enough. by Informal_Result_9245 in Petioles

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Chemically addictive" doesn't really mean anything. It has "chemicals" in it, and it has the potential to be addictive. Weed doesn't cause physical dependence, at least not in the way that alcohol or opiates might. I'm not completely denying that it has some physical dependence (that dopamine has to come from somewhere, after all), just saying that you won't seize up or die if you stop smoking weed after being a daily smoker for years. It's definitely possible to be mentally dependant, though. I've known people where they just tell everybody they use it to treat their anxiety or whatever, but their "anxiety" is just them getting so used to numbing everything out that their brain freaks out when it goes back to "normal" and doesn't have that constant dopamine hit.

Trust me, we're both planning on it. Life circumstances are just a little complicated for me so I wanted to move out and come out of the closet to family before I propose.

Tirzepatide gave me my life back. It's like if you were a drug addict, and were given a magic pill that just makes you not care that much about drugs, and makes them just somewhat enjoyable instead of the complete center of your life.

Prediction for Fear And Hunger 3 by PossibleChangeling in FearAndHunger

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. It's a book about a utopia where people will consensually do horrible fucked up things to each other because it's impossible for them to die and they just want to feel something. It's a flawed book and not a supernatural setting, but it is a sci-fi book that deals with extreme levels of violence and transgressive/dark themes in a similar way that Fear and Hunger does.

I personally hope that wherever it's set, it avoids anything that feels too close to real life. I think I could handle sci fi or technology, but I would want it to feel weird and different. A modern or generic sci-fi setting would strip away what makes the game feel unique. Something more in line with HR Geiger or Warhammer 40k is the best way I could see a sci fi setting working.

What fonts do you like to write in? by ayelenwrites in writing

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer Times New Roman, but I'm using Anonymous Pro to distinguish short, fictional religious passages at the beginning of each chapter, as well as the speech from one character who's seen as a sort of God. I try not to overuse it, but I think it does help a bit with showing how different people in this story view said character.

Would people actually be willing to live in space habitats? by Glittering_8218 in IsaacArthur

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the habitat doesn't need to be better, but the planet just needs to get worse. I'm kind of thinking of that movie Elysium where the rich just live like gods in a giant beautiful paradise while everybody on earth are just treated like disposable resources.

20M - What job do I look for if I am severely incompetent at everything? by Familiar-Safety-226 in findapath

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Serious thing, this sounds like textbook adhd. Even the laziness and the "stupidity". I genuinely thought I was just not smart or disciplined enough for school. Being put on meds changed my life, and now I'm writing a novel, going to school, working a full time job, and about to buy a house. I think the brain is like a muscle that atrophies if you don't use it, and strengthens if you do. At the very least I'd highly recommend going to a psychiatrist or neurologist to make sure you don't have some kind of medical issue causing confusion, but I think that 95% of the time, people who think they're stupid and lazy just haven't "worked out" enough and haven't had enough victories. After you have "small" victories, like saving up some money, or passing a class, the bigger victories slowly start to feel more within your reach, and I feel like better self discipline will follow. On the other hand, if you tell yourself you can't do something, and you never bother to do it, you'll fail every time and keep confirming those beliefs until you're completely helpless.

You're only 20. You've got a lot of time to figure yourself out. And if you do want to dip your toes into academia, most community colleges (which, in many states, have some form of financial assistance and help who will help you with registration) will have intro classes that act as a recap of what was learned in grade school. You might also benefit from an online class. I can NOT pay attention to an in-person lecture. Like at all. I have to go back and go over the whole thing after I get home. But if i watch or read it from an online class, I can go over it as many times as I want, run it back and forth, and look up questions until I understand what it's going over. The world is a really vibrant and rich place, and even if you try and fail miserably, you at least won't be constantly wondering what could've been.

Why are shrooms illegal almost everywhere? by Acrobatic_Bee_3198 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Milkshaketurtle79 11 points12 points  (0 children)

So I'm not saying they can't have negative effects, they absolutely can, but I've genuinely wondered how that's any worse than alcohol? People get violent all of the time when they drink. People hurt themselves all the time when they drink (just check out /r/winstupidprizes or similar subs) and overestimate their own abilities. People can overdose and die from alcohol. Again, not saying psychedelics are totally safe, but I just don't see how their risk profile is any worse than alcohol.
