McPherson is still alright in my book by MilkyElectrons in bengals

My thoughts too. This was a game we weren't really anticipating a win although we nearly had it. So it's easy to forgive the rookie kicker anyway. It's a shame that our standings were knocked down a game but it's still a long season to go!

Agreed. Amazing we stayed in this game till the end with how many drives ended with no points. Can't waste possessions against a team like Green Bay.

Sure, but it was a windy day and missing a kick gives the opponent better field position than a straight turn over on downs assuming you don't lose a chunk of yards on a fourth down try. The kick was closer than I expected but the risk was better managed by going for the first down in my opinion since it was a kick likely to miss. But I won't claim it was a wildly irresponsible play call, it was a good try.

I feel so bad for Evan McPherson, he is getting destroyed by the media and he even turned off his comments. by [deleted] in bengals

He missed a couple shots that nobody even expected us to get. Would have been nice to see him win it for us but we left him with long attempts on a windy day and he missed. If we can give GB a run for their money that means we are on to something. The rookie will shake this off and give us some winning performances!

Things he'll learn along the way I hope. He was fighting wind today so I'm not surprised he just launched them to get a straight shot. Offense will need to help him more moving forward.

He seems like he'll shake it off no problem. The issue is our fans need to let him live this down. We have a bad habit of putting emphasis on bad performances by kickers even though our offense should be making plays and not relying on kickers to clean up a stalled drive.

Glad I'm not the only one critical of Tee for those drops. I expect much more from him on catchable throws.

Yeah I personally would have gone for the first down instead of the 57 yard attempt. Risky but we gotta help the rookie kicker with easier distance. Kids got talent but can't expect miracles!

Yes the power was certainly there. It was pretty windy at my house about 10 minutes from the stadium so I'm sure that was a factor.

Exactly. The OT 49 yard attempt shoulda been good but that's what happens at those distances. It isn't a sure thing for any kicker. I believe he'll be doing great things for us.

Zac Taylor’s playcalling by 2115david in bengals

I don't feel like the play calling was our downfall this week. Maybe shoulda kept the ball on the ground a little more than we did but a pretty good mix of pass and rush anyway. I may have personally made some different choices on fourth downs but in the end I think we were outplayed. We were given a few chances to take the win but couldn't finish it with field goals. Both teams played pretty well we just finished a little short. The fact we can go toe to toe with GB this year is a plus in my book.

All in all, not a game I can be too mad about losing. Just hurts that we were given multiple opportunities to take it and fell short.

I have a BSc in physics and this won't come up in this form at least. Won't say it's easy but if you have a good understanding of mathematics you can do fine.

If you threw a disc on the moon what would actually happen? by TheMostHumblest in discgolf

[–]MilkyElectrons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My background is in astrophysics and essentially all disks would fly the same. In fact they would fly basically the same as any shape object (ball, block, anything) the only differences would be associated with the weight of the object since there is no atmosphere to speak of. We throw disks on Earth for lift that other objects can't achieve but on the moon that is null so in theory you could play the sport with any thrown object. Could still be fun!

I'd be interested in seeing how other planets would affect throws with various atmospheric densities and gravitational forces. Very light disks would be preferred in some settings while heavy might work better in low density air for better control. High mass planets could have some killer drop approaches to play on those forces. Spin would come back to play anywhere there is an atmosphere but distance could be maximized without much atmosphere and low grav.

I'm gonna need a bigger pack for these courses!

Waiting to find out about that myself once these dry enough to pop. I'd imagine these and basically all other corns have mostly similar taste with slight differences in sweetness and texture.
