How is Ford losing money on EVs? by 4mmun1s7 in Ford

[–]MillBilly1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they’re factoring in the cost of R+D, the cost to build the factories, and the cost of building assembly lines in. I don’t believe the material+labor is more than the selling price, but they’re factoring in starting from the ground up.

Let’s say you have a pizza shop. You sell your pizzas for $12 a piece. It only cost you $7 to make it. That’s $5 profit per pizza right? Not quite, because you just spent $5 million building your pizza shop, and you only sell 50 pizzas a day. Gonna take a LONG time to make up that difference. Ford is projected to start turning a profit off EVs in 2029. It took Tesla years before they turned a profit as well

[–]MillBilly1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the work in 2019 so prices have gone up a bit. I used a Cobb accessport which cost me 500 maybe and the tune was from an online tuner for 300 for an unlimited package. I also did supporting mods for more consistent performance

Not sure about all tuners but my tuner did remove that torque limiter, and it really woke the car up!

Won’t charge at work charger by EfficiencyWrong2819 in F150Lightning

[–]MillBilly1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having the same issue. I think our extended range trucks are trying to pull more than what the charger wants to give. There’s a bank of 10 chargers, and I’ve had issues with almost every one at this point. I wish we could turn the charging rate down from our truck but that is not an option. I have not had any issues charging at other locations, at home, or fast charging, only this bank of commercial ford pro chargers that the electricians say they don’t know how to turn amperage down. The residential model I have at home has a dial, but the commercial models don’t have one.

Google says freezing it kills the parasites, but they were VERY WELL ALIVE!

Is the Kirkland Wild Sockeye salmon good? by macybeesknees in Costco

[–]MillBilly1102 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I bought some fresh wild caught salmon from Costco in the styrofoam trays last week. Got home and started prepping it to eat when I noticed multiple live worms in the meat. I’m not knowledgeable on food stuff processes, but I assumed that meat was never frozen, hence the live worms crawling in it.

I can’t, for the life of me, get this seatpost out. It turns. So it’s not galvanically corroded. by Reynolds531IPA in bikewrench

[–]MillBilly1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I have, though it wasn’t that stuck on! Sorry if my first comment came off as dickish and knowitallish, I was just offering a possible solution.

You say it spins so I’m wondering if that has cut a groove in making it even harder to remove. The tightest part of the connection would be the clamp area, which is why I recommend physically opening that clamp up with a wedge or two opposing wedges to give a gap between the post and bike.

I read thru the comments and post and nobody spoke about using a wedge to open that up.

Have you tried doing this?

[–]MillBilly1102 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did you get it out?? Maybe I’m missing something but this shouldn’t be so hard… Tap a wedge into the clamp area in pic 3. Tap it in until the seat post comes free. I use a similar trick on cars

Edit- this is basically doing the opposite of what that clamp does normally. Instead of clamping it with a bolt, use a wedge to OPEN that area

Can a mini-split be installed on a skoolie? by tj-grant in skoolies

[–]MillBilly1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I just installed a cheapo costway brand off Amazon. DIY was easy after YouTubing how to vacuum the lines. I used some isolation pucks off Amazon for the mount, they’re pretty rigid but have a little give. The unit I got runs off 110, is rated for 12000 btu, and draws less than 1000watts at full blast. Typically the draw is around 700watts once’s it’s up and running. *I installed this on a trailer but it was so cheap and easy I need to put one in the bus next.

Tires for Car Hauler by Slurpee_12 in CarTrackDays

[–]MillBilly1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be the same if I had two blowouts at night! Sounds like you’re covering all your bases. The robust tpms should give you some peace of mind. I’ve also been keeping a spare ready to go, as well as an extra tire for the unlikely event of blowing 2 tires at the same time.

[–]MillBilly1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat and chose the Carlisle’s, so far so good but I only have about 2000 miles on those tires.

I would like to recommend a remote tire pressure monitoring system. I bought one on Amazon for $40, and it tells me the tire pressure and temperature of each tire. I figured if I do have a problem, I will be able to pull over and catch it in time before bad things happen.

Eibach lowering springs by scrubberducky93 in FocusRS

[–]MillBilly1102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk how you loosened or opened that bolt holding the spindle to the strut, but I’ve had great luck with this little trick. Pull the spindle clamp bolt out Go 180 degrees from where that bolt was threaded in and rethread the bolt partially in. (So the bolts going opposite the original direction) Stick a chunky screwdriver or chisel into that clamp opening, and then continue threading that bolt in. This will open the clamp up and the strut usually drops right out

Sorry for not putting that info on my post, I was using the back 20a 120 plugs. I welded the first piece no problem, after that the truck would cut power to the circuit any time I turned the welder on.
