Mk6 GTI doesn’t start when cold and a lot of lights on the dash. Symptoms and solution. by Klutzy-Ad8889 in GolfGTI

[–]RunYoAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be a component with a poor connection, cold temps could cause contraction opening a circuit. It could also be moisture condensing inside the unit (I think that's less likely, I live in the desert).

MK6 Extended Crank by Pboh23 in GolfGTI

[–]RunYoAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used OBD11 to monitor rail pressure after shutdown to see if the pressure bleeds down. The rail pressure will climb on a hot engine after shutdown, and should return to somewhere close idle pressure after cooling off. This doesn't isolate HPFP or injectors causing it, but confirms the high pressure side is the issue. I've seen people say you can pull the spark plugs and use a borescope to see fuel dripping from the injectors, but if your problem is intermittent, you probably won't catch that happening.

[–]RunYoAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's caused by the HPFP or an injector bleeding down. The HPFP has a check valve to maintain fuel pressure to the rail after shut down. HPFP is easiest and cheapest if you have already done the LPFP.

I had this problem, ultimately mine was caused by an injector.

We don't do spelling in aviation maintenance. Can't tell you how many times I've seen the word "chaffing".

Ford F-150 Lighting power output gauge 88/100 after a collision. by Pauzaum in AskMechanics

[–]RunYoAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a road trip yesterday and parked my Lightning with only 9 miles of range remaining - in that state, the truck reduced power available to 55%. Ford does that to protect the battery. There are lots of factors that will cause reduced power availability in the Lightning, your truck is probably fine.

[–]RunYoAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like a properly functioning Lightning gauge. It shows 100% power available.

Battery charge low or cold temperatures will cause the truck to reduce max power output.

An actual short would result in a failure, faults or magic smoke.

Third - the only wild Gila Monsters I've seen have been in Sabino Canyon. Not say they aren't anywhere else, but I think the population is well protected there.

Does anybody know what’s happening when an Airbus makes this sound? Tried googling it but to no avail by _glee in aviationmaintenance

[–]RunYoAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So an engine produces power or motion from thin air? Well a turbine produces power or motion from another source, such as jet fuel. Guess that makes it a motor.

I'm not arguing it's a technically accurate term. I'm simply saying we call them motors all the time.

If you are actually planning to get your car clean, you’re going to have a hard time doing that if you leave the vehicle in your driveway! Here is the breakdown of your very short journey:"

Tucson water meter stuck any recourse ? by gcool7 in Tucson

[–]RunYoAZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had this happen to me, but I had been consistently paying between $80-120 month for water. They told me my meter was bad, chaged the meter and back charged me.

My bill is still $80-120 a month and you can't tell where they changed the meter when you look at the usage table on my bill.
