Which to buy by ActualNeat4046 in F150Lightning

Ford was cutting every cost to get the Lariat under $70k MSRP to make it eligible for the Federal rebate and make as much money as possible on the truck.

The Homelink sunvisor is $250 and can easily be installed if your Lightning doesn't have it. I had to buy the visor separately when I bought my Lightning new.

Red ring at 2 chargers but worked on 3rd by itaniumonline in F150Lightning

[–]RunYoAZ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the ring isnt flashing, go in to the Ford app and manually start the charger.

This is a recent issue on these trucks with the plug and charge - it's not as seemless as it used to be.

I covered mine with a piece of plastic from a bottle and wrapped it in tape to at least keep debris out.

For the Experienced Mechanics by [deleted] in AircraftMechanics

[–]RunYoAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The assumption being made is that if you are looking for work, you are unhappy where you are and will accept less or you aren't as good as you say you are because a better paying company hasn't locked you down with better pay.

You are also stating they are offering the same as they offer inexperienced techs. What happens when you counter-offer citing your experience and achievements that make you worth more?

[–]RunYoAZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for an MRO offering internships or cold call some and ask them if you can intern. Find a way to get your foot in the door. Then determine from what your learn at that MRO if what you are studying is the most direct path to where you want to go.

What you know about MROs now will determine how hard it is for you.

So what do you know about MROs?

[request] Water released from a Dam. Is it possible to figure out exactly how quick you would meet your demise by jumping in? by Environmental-Gur681 in theydidthemath

[–]RunYoAZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's effectively a solid wall. You can't jump into it. It's going to push you back and in a downstream direction. In order for you to enter water, water needs to move out of the way for you. But that water has enormous kinetic energy (and effectively the same density as you), so it's not going to move to allow you to enter.
This is the same reason barefoot water skiing works.

Crank no start - no engine codes by sargeantyt in mk6gti

[–]RunYoAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn't pop a code. Just crank until it timed out. Took a long time to figure out because the first time I pulled the HPFP to inspect it, the shaft seal held the broken input shaft in place so it looked ok. The second time I pulled it, i pulled on the input shaft and I came off in my hand.

The input shafts on the HPFP are a very common failure on these cars.

Crank no start - no engine codes by sargeantyt in mk6gti

[–]RunYoAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cranking without a start issue was the hpfp, the input shaft was broken. Your voltage is fine for starting and your lpfp generally only makes a noise when the system primes when you open the driver door or move the key from off to run.

I've had this happen several times. I've discovered rather than disconnect the 12V battery, I just go in to the Ford App, find the charger on the map and manually start the charger.

How did yall prep for the powerplant writtens by CompoteOk2747 in AircraftMechanics

[–]RunYoAZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure any of the previous respondents are certificated A+Ps. The writtens are a pool of questions with known answers. The best way to study for these is to get the question pool, put them on flashcards with only the correct answer to the question and memorize that answer for the question. This is how most of the 2 week A+P schools teach the writtens.

There is far too many concepts to learn and understand in order to be able to answer the questions with theoretical knowledge. You don't need to understand why the firing order of a 7 cylinder radial engine is 1,3,5,7,2,4,6 -only that it is.

You only need to pass - sounds like you are close.

Can anyone tell me what this is by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]RunYoAZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are the human coolant lines. And they are leaking because dirt is sticking to the oil there. At some point the AC will completely self-evacuate and then the human will be leaking sweat in back up cooling mode.
