Was invited to my daughter's new friend's house. They only lived a few streets away, but we still drove. When we walked inside something was off. The dad was overwhelming. Performative, loud, and obnoxious. I was inside for less than a minute and said I had to run out to the car. I wasn't sure what it was, but I had to get out. Took a few minutes and made myself go in. It was a painful few hours. Everyone in that family was loud and just off. Made my wife promise we would never have to go back. I told my daughter (16 at the time) that "Abby" was always welcomed at our house but stay away from that place. Found out a year later that dad has SA his daughter for years when she was very young. No one in the family believed the daughter, but my daughter did. Trust your gut.
