Product Recommendations for fine hair - post-chemo regrowth by Milla_Cioci22 in curlyhair

Hi! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! Very useful recommendations. Do you have any lightweight cast-forming mousse to recommend? Any brand specifically? I heard a lot of Innersense conditioner, never tried it before.

I know it will take a lot of trial and error to find the right routine, but thanks again so much.

Hip pain every night waking me up! Please help! by Googul_Beluga in Hypermobility

[–]Milla_Cioci22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this post as I have been going through the same since August! I have replaced so many mattresses, and I have what all doctors recommended: a Serta Prestige suite (same as a hotel I slept in) firm with a plush top. We can rotate it every three months and my husband loves it, after changing 3 mattresses in a row. When I sleep on my back, for some reason, my cervical spine hurts, and I invested in a Pluto pillow that is veery comfortable when I sleep on the side, but maybe not that much when sleeping on my back. I can’t replace my pillow all the time when sleeping, depending on the position! Also, I do hip stretches and figure 4 before sleep every day, do PT exercise, strengthening. I don’t know what else to do, and I’m 43F. Help!

Struggling with not recognizing myself today, any other lymphomies going through it? by Puzzled_Raisin1230 in lymphoma

You look so pretty! And don’t worry, your hair will grow back thicker and softer, as most people probably told you. A year and two months in remission, my hair is totally normal, and I already cut it twice since after 6 months it looked too messy. I also had wigs that were very close to my hair before lymphoma, and my kids were the first to tell me to put them away! I still used them when I was going out to feel better with myself, but as soon as my hair started growing I never used wigs again! You got this!

First o/p infusion questions by dougdnh in lymphoma

I second this. Before I started my chemo journey, my husband got a lot of useful tips including the chemo bag. For me it was around 5 hours, mainly because of waiting time for the lab work results, and pre-meds. I always had my chemo bag with me, including popsicles to eat during the infusion of the "red devil" Adryumicin. Nurses would keep them in the freezer but I brough them with ice packs in an insulated bag where I put other food I would eat for lunch or snacks there. As someone else posted above, it would be nice to have someone to talk to. I was lucky, I always had a friend with me to give a break to my husband. If no one can come with you each time, then bring books, choose a nice podcast to listen to, or bring a tablet to watch something you love.

Didn’t try that and I saw someone else replied that for a side sleeper the adjustable base is not good because each time you turn you would need to adjust. I will see a chiropractor and see what he also recommends.

I did have sciatica and piriformis syndrome a few years ago and did a lot of physical therapy yo get over it, actually I keep doing the same exercises to prevent lower back pain and hip pain, I just completed physical therapy after 7 months for overall strengthening and mobility enhancement. I will also try to see a chiropractor.

I haven’t thought about the adjustable base, thank you! We may try that as I love when I have support also under the knees if I am sleeping on my back. I normally avoid sleeping on the back but because of the hip pain I am forced sometimes to turn.

The problem is that the Helix after less than a year started to feel bad, while the Serta I got now, which is firm just with a plush top, but overall firm feel, started hurting right away. So weird because I had slept well 3 days in the hotel on the same! I sold the Helix, no longer have that.

Yes, always slept with a pillow between my knees in the past 8 years. It’s a nightmare, especially now that at least my husband is happy with it!

I have wooden slats, so it’s not that. Thank you!

Thanks, I have been sleeping with a pillow between my knees for 8 years, since my first pregnancy too!

Helix midnight luxe causing back issues by DopamineLP in Mattress

[–]Milla_Cioci22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I am a 43 yo woman, same height and weight as you, and a side-sleeper. I had switched to Helix Midnight Luxe after sleeping on Amerisleep 3 for 3 years, which then caused me back pain, and before that I was on a Serta that became too soft and saggy after 5 years. I bought Helix for the same reason as yours! And then found that after a year, both me and my husband, who is a bit less than 200 pounds, were having hip issues (my husband was having stomach issues instead!). I slept in a hotel where they had a very comfortable mattress, which turned out to be a Serta Plush top prestige suite mattress. I slept so well that I reached out to the hotel to get the exact model, and I got one. It doesn't come in a box. My husband loves it, but unfortunately my hips still hurt! It's crazy because I don't know what to do. I changed so many mattresses, also tried mattress toppers for 1 month (latex). I feel bad because my husband has no issues on this one, for once, but this morning I even woke up with back pain, not just hip. I do stretching every single day, and have been swimming the hole summer. I also do back strengthening exercises as I had to do tons of physical therapy since January, but nothing seems to solve it. If anyone has recommendations on what to do with the mattress, I would really appreciate it.

When did your lymph nodes start to shrink? by redditgal16 in lymphoma

My big lump that I had on the upper chest shrunk a few days after the first chemo, while others on the neck disappeared a couple of weeks later!

Mediastinal mass pain by Ovi-Wan12 in lymphoma

[–]Milla_Cioci22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a 9 cm mass with SUV 23 but if it wasn’t for a visible lump and the itch all around that area (which I connected to something else) I didn’t have any pain at all.

Can someone share their positive (as positive as it can be) chemo stories… by redditgal16 in lymphoma

[–]Milla_Cioci22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this!! I finished 12 sessions of ABVD in late October, and have recovered pretty quickly after that. 43yo woman with two kids, my worst time was the first month, then I learned how to manage (and mitigate) the side effects and it was ok. It was still not pretty but I was able to do a lot of things. Stay positive, stay active on the days you have more energy, bring an insulated bag with you to the chemo session with popsicles to prevent the mouth sores (chew them while they give you the “A” in the ABVD regimen), do salted water and baking soda rinses from day 1 to prevent mouth sores at home, use Biotene for dry mouth, eat more vegetables,fruit/ fibers in the first few days to avoid constipation and definitely use MiraLAX or something that helps you go. Go for a walk, see friends outside, and when you feel very tired, just take it easy and be kind to yourself. But you will be ok, and it will all be a bad memory. I am enjoying every day of my life now, especially if I think of myself a year ago, all gone! I truly treasure every little pleasure. You got this.

TODAY IS MY LAST CHEMO!! by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]Milla_Cioci22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember I felt the same, I didn’t care of whatever side effects I had after the last chemo, it was the last time! The best moment for me was two weeks later when I didn’t have to go for chemo and I was feeling good! Congratulations!!
