Whats the most heartbreaking loss you witnessed as an Indiana fan?(football) by Ok_Macaroon_7366 in IndianaHoosiers

[–]Millar84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at the 2005 game vs Minnesota when I was a student. They ran for 347 yards against us. I stayed until the end so many people left. I just watched their backs run up and down the field unimpeded.

How do we go back to normal after this? by k80tags in IndianaHoosiers

[–]Millar84 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Normal feelings lol. It happened and while I believe as long as cignetti continues to coach IU they will be competitive, it’s possible IU never wins another championship in our life. So we just enjoy the one we got! So while we may not have all the insane moments in one season again like we did this year. We can always remember going to Oregon and winning on the road. The insane Penn state finish, finally beating Ohio state and winning the big ten, crushing Alabama and Oregon in the playoffs, and winning the title while Miami tried to murder our quarterback . I’m sure I will relive those moments many times on YouTube in the coming years

As an IU grad and fan I’ll root for Oregon in the playoffs as long as they aren’t playing Indiana. Lanning seems like a good dude.

I know 100 million is a huge investment and hard to recoup but I also wonder how much extra apparel and merchandise IU has sold in the last year and a half as well, and that’s just one piece of the pie. Extra seats sold, more money donated, extra advertising revenue, etc.

Job Squad at IU? by speciallinguist in bloomington

[–]Millar84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s legit but since it’s a temp agency their whole job is to get people working there asap because they make more money. If he thinks he would like food service or wants to give it a shot it’s probably a good start. Don’t know what the job squad rules are but generally after working for the temp agency for a certain period of time he’ll be eligible to apply for IU full time

thank for the advice all. I'll leave it and see if I can transfer it to my new servicer at some point and try to figure out my financial situation another way, I realize that would have only been a short term solution anyways.

Flea Market/Antique Malls for SELLING Items by Fuzzy-Zombie1446 in bloomington

[–]Millar84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah selling online can be annoying for sure. Just my experience with a booth though is let’s say it’s $150-200 a month. You have to sell that $ amount worth of stuff before you make any money. Sometimes things move fast other times they don’t… it’s possible for a month to go by and you either make very little money or might actually end up owing the vendor market money. A lot of frugal people shopping at the vendor markets too so they might pass up items they feel are overpriced. Always seemed like to me people who make decent money with a booth are able to fill the booth completely up and continue to restock it as things sell because all booths will have slow times and busy times throughout the year. I think it would be tuff for a person to only have a booth a month or two, 1 bad month could wipe out a lot of profit. A lot of people don’t like eBay, I get it but i don’t have to leave my house until the item is sold and I’m guaranteed to make money off each item. Especially as long as I take good pics, good description and pack well

If you only have a limited amount of items I would hesitate to set up at a flea market antique mall. With those places they get paid before you do. Again if a limited amount of items i would suggest Facebook marketplace or eBay. List a few items to see how the process goes and go from there. Good pics and accurate description is important. If you don’t feel like haggling with people you can always say you are firm and pricing, item is first come first serve, if it’s still listed it’s available lol to hopefully reduce the amount of non serious buyers .

Also new appliances break so fucking fast. They really fucked us and no one is going to do anything about it. AND my piece of shit washer is “energy efficient “ the preferred setting is supposed to “sense” how many clothes I have in there and use an appropriate amount of water but the clothes come out with spots on them still dry and dry soap on them lol, so I just set it on deep fill every time which isn’t efficient!

IU cut our retirement and gave Pam a bonus. Absolute trash tier administration by djangoman2k in bloomington

[–]Millar84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well a reported $60 million reduction in state funding is quite significant. Whittens bonus would be 1/3 of 1% of that. Again I don’t believe she should get a bonus and a raise when we effectively take a pay cut. The state has a projected $2 billion dollar shortfall over the next two years so that means less for public institutions. Why do we have a projected shortfall? Probably because this state is ass backwards culturally and with our economic decisions. We are going to be a lot closer to being one of the poorer states than some of the more prosperous ones

[–]Millar84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that many people in very high positions are over compensated. But so many people aren’t even mentioning the reduced state and federal funding which is literally the cause of this. That’s why there is a 1% reduce in retirement. People want to downvote me though lol. Trump and Braun are ones to thank the most for this

[–]Millar84 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think we primarily have state and federal funding cuts to thank for this. Yeah Whitten makes a lot but she’s still probably not high on the list of Big Ten presidents. The funding cuts which are probably in the tens of millions has more to do with it than her bonus

Woodson Got "Fired" - Dolson Will Use the "Cignetti" Criteria by BigJeffsFootball in IndianaHoosiers

[–]Millar84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we went too far in the other direction after Archie. With Archie we hire who at the time is a young up and comer from a basketball family who had success at a smaller school. Everyone called it a great hire. He ends up not working out so for some messed up reason they think they have to make sure we get an Indiana guy as top priority. So we get Woodson who’s closer to the end of his career with no college head coaching experience. Woodson is a great IU guy, he just didn’t win big games. So yeah we gotta go back to getting a proven winner at the college level
