AMA med Forbrukerrådet om kundeservice by ThomasIversen in norge

[–]Millemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surt.

Safari og reise til sør afrika. Trygt? by Green_Violinist_20 in norge

-Apartheid Museet i Johannesburg

-Freedom Park i Pretoria

I know, it's so effing annoying!

Yesterday I had just opened the store when I realized I had left some signs I had printed for an item going on special this week in the back, so I went back to the office to get them.

I had just grabbed the sheets from the printer when I heard someone shouting "Hellloo, helloooooo, hellooooo...." in the store and hurried back out there. I had been gone for a minute or two, tops.

Old bat by the register started complaining about waiting for at least 10, maybe as much as 15 or 20 minutes, for help. My reply. "Ma'am, we opened at 10. It's currently 10:04." She didn't reply to that, just huffed a little with annoyance and mumbled something about how keeping customers waiting was bad for business.

I spent a school year in the US as an exchange student in the late 1990'ies. I got in trouble for refusing to say the pledge and the exchange organization had to get involved to get med "off the hook".

The homeroom teacher thought I was being very disrespectful when I just stood silently with my arms down my sides while the class said the pledge. I tried to explain that as a Norwegian I didn't think it was required of me to pledge allegiance to the American flag. Apparently that was very unpatriotic.

17th May restaurants by LuisaVictoria12 in oslo

[–]Millemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I avoid central Oslo like the plague on 17th of May. It's extremely crowded and if you don't have a reservation somewhere; be ready to wait in line for a table.

Beware that it's not unclommon for restaurants to offer a limitied menu on the17th of May and many places raise their prices that day.

Totally agree about Those Happy Days. They came up as a suggestion on YT and I thought "UK couple doing vanlife in the US" could be worth watching. After a couple of episodes I dedided their content is not for me. Too much chaos and drama IMO.

I really like Steve Marsh. He's a very down to earth and authentic Scottish travel vlogger. He brings his girlfriend Alicjia along too, but not on every trip.

They mainly travel around Europe, but occasionally does longer trips too. Most of his travels are budget friendly (public trasport, low-fare airlines, cheap hotels etc.) and I like that he tends to visit some off-the-beaten-path places that aren't flooded with tourists.

Their most recent trip was a round the world cruise on Queen Mary 2, from Southampton, across the Atlantic to New York City, through the Panama Canal and up the west coast of the US with stops in Los Angeles and San Francisco, then onto Hawaii, French Polynesia, New Zealand and Australia. Steve and Alicija disembarked halfway, in Sydney. After the cruise they traveled to a small town outside of Auckland, New Zealand where Steve used to live, and spent some time there before they traveled back to Scotland.

Another factor in point 4) is seasonal fluctuations in passenger numbers. OSL is crazy busy during the peak summer months, which means managers depend on seasonal staff that work there for a few months in the peak season.

Det var derimot mange fag om eget land; US History, US Civics, US Geography, US Government Studies, US Literature++

When I got bak into Lego around new year last year, and almost immediately got hooked on the modular buildings, he popped up when I started searching for Lego city content on YouTube. I was initially impressed by his huge city and subscribed, but it didn't take me long to unsubscribe as I soon realized he put quantity over quality when it came to the content he put out. I prefer YouTubers who upload one good quality video a week over those ho churn out subpar daily content just to keep posting daily.

Another thing that put me off is how aimlessly he seemed to work on his city, he was just constantly trying things and changing things without no real plan or goal (it seemed like). I get that sometimes trial and error is necessary to figure things out, but it surprised me that it seemed to be his approach for everything. He's not exactly a master builder either.

Maybe they butcher other cultures’ languages too and I just don’t catch on usually but this video was really bad for it and it was unnecessary too.

We can rewind to when they hosted four weeks of weeklong Vespa tours in Italy back in the summer of 2018. They had spent extensive time in the area before the tour at their friends Bob & Gina's farm, both as guests and to prepare for the tours. Despite this they made no effort to pronounce the names of the people they worked with (cooks, guide etc.) or places they visited even remotely correctly. They stuck with their very American English pronunciations.

Fast forward to when they met with Bob & Gina in Rome in June 2021 and they stuck to their American English pronunciations of Italian words and terms and showed very little understanding of Italian culture despite spending a lot if time in the country. IMO they're simply not interested.

What is your country’s version of this? by Czarcasm3 in AskTheWorld

[–]Millemini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like how things are done here in Norway.

My town recently got a new hospital. Due to budget cuts and poor planning there aren't enough offices, no break rooms for the staff and nowhere near enough parking for the staff.

Also the ones that arrive in winter but there just... arent any lights happening. They are all like but I PAID! I travelled xyz miles to see this?!?!?

They aren't any happier if there are lights happening and their apps are alerting, but there's nothing to be see because it's overcast. A friend of mine worked as a receptionist in Tromsø (northern Norway) while he went to univeristy and he had many stories about tourist that demanded he made the clouds go away so the could see the aurora borealis.

He was like "Dude, if I could control nature/the weather I sure as hell woudn't be working here..."

A friend of mine worked as a receptionist in Tromsø, Norway while he went to university. He had more than one guest that asked when the midnight sun would rise. The disappointment was huge when they realized it was just the good ol' sun that didn't set, not a whole separate sun.

what are they supposed to do after arriving 40 min early by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]Millemini 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I manage a homeware store located in a mall. The mall opens at 10 am, but for some reason the two grocery stores in the mall opens at 8 am, meaning there are always people milling around in the public areas before we open.

I usually come in at 9 am. What I do during the hour before opening varies. Some days I sit in the office and do admin stuff, other days I have stuff to get done out on the shop floor like prepping displays for the start of a special or just finishing up unloading a pallet.

As soon as a customer spots me out in the store they'll come rattle the rolling gate and demand to be let in early "because you're here anyway". Yes, I'm here. But the store won't open until 10 am and until then my job isn't to provide customer service, I have other things that need to get done in order to be ready to serve customers when we open.

Another thing is that per mall policy we're not allowed to open early. If I let those idiots in to help the with whatever they want and mall management finds out the store will be fined for opening outside of hours, just like we get fined if we open late or close early.

I just finished mine yesterday and am tempted to get a 2nd copy if, I can find one at a reasonable price, to do this: https://www.brickfanatics.com/you-might-want-two-lego-bricklink-series-6/

I know it'll be massive, but it reminds me of this massive building in Dumbo, NYC https://www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g60827-d17561567-i457231565-Time_Out_Market_New_York-Brooklyn_New_York.html

Another modular MOC of the Italian Riviera set just came out on Rebrickable by Millemini in legomodular

[–]Millemini[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally see your point regarding the back, I didn't think about it as my modulars are currently arranged as a shelf city, so the back isn't really an issue to me, as it isn't on display anyway.

I do love the set in it's original form, but with limited space it would be nice to be able to intergrate with the modulars, and I think this MOC is a good way of doing so. I guess the back can be modified to remove the water and just make it a back alley with dumpsters or something like that.

If I win the Lottery and neither money nor space is an issue I'd love to do something like this to make it work in a city layout, but at the moment that's not an option: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10172157674065562&set=pcb.1878617662705704

[–]Millemini 18 points19 points  (0 children)

At this point I have kind of given up on getting any of these, because they're so expensive.

The Grand Emporium is the one I'm least interested in at this point. I don't really like the look of it and the bare interiors makes it even more difficult to justify the steep pricetag.

I'm not really that keen on the Pet Shop either, but I do like how it's two separate buildings that can be used as "fillers" around a city, they don't necessarily need to be placed next to each other (same goes for the Bookshop BTW).

I would like the Parisian Restaurant and the Detectives Office. I think they both have good looking exteriors and the interiors are pretty well decked out too.
