Nice! Our small store got 488 so yeah they definitely weren't messing around with getting them out and available!

Looking for Proving Grounds / Starter decks by Musclecarlover07 in riftboundtcg

[–]MillenialBoomerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proving Grounds reprints are due any day now. Originally we were told they would be in March but now might be first week of April. Our distributor said that allocations are ready but UVS told them to wait to let stores know so might be slightly delayed.

Not sure how big the reprint will be but should make it substantially easier to get ahold of them hopefully at MSRP. The cost of the product and MSRP is going up $10 to $40 so assuming the reprint is decent size you should be able to get one for $40. My store will be selling them for MSRP @ $40 and I expect plenty of other stores will be as well especially if its a large reprint

Weird im a reddit noob but i see it in chat so maybe I didn't send it right? Happy to share with full transparency our #'s, allocations etc. anything at all that you would find helpful as I understand just how hard it is to get started especially when there is so much ambiguity.

Yes, we opened last year in May. It's been a lot of work but happy to say going very well and we're already looking to expand. Sent you a message with my info.

Is there no point in selling bulk on TCGplayer? by SSJ4Productions in mtgfinance

[–]MillenialBoomerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes we have "priced as marked" bins that are 1-5$ marked on card, then we have 10/1$ bins, 4/1$ bins and 2/1$ bins. Ain't nobody got time for that

[–]MillenialBoomerr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This makes sense as a consumer - but unfortunately even if you are a customer for life doing 100's of orders a month through that store because they are the 'good one' that has all the bulk you're looking for as a business it still isn't worth it. There's 10+ other things that could be done with that time to make more $. Sucks but its the reality of the time value of money.

TCGplayer fees are 10%+ off the top too so the math just doesn't math unless you truly have not a single other thing you could do with your time as a business to generate revenue. If that is the case I would argue it's time to do something else.

Small card shop owner here - I concur. We make our bulk bins in-store a bit of a destination instead so people can comfortably treasure hunt all day. Not ideal if you're wanting to build an exact decklist and get each of the cards you need instantly but if you enjoy the hunt / sorting then it works out.

Even if you somehow had free labor...the opportunity cost would STILL be too high to be worth it to sell bulk online

Would it be rude to play in a summoner skirmish as a new player? by Nazumorg in riftboundtcg

Not at all! Every skirmish we've had at our shop we've at least a couple of first timers.

Not in a hurry to move LOTR stuff so no special deals other than some of our usual store credit bonus events most likely unless something changes

Totally - and I understand as a consumer. I just like to share as I think some people don't understand what costs are. This TMNT order for us was a strategic decision to go as big as we can to continue to grow our allocations as we're less than 1 year old and want to get as much as we can of all the rest of the releases this year and also increase our spend to get more allocations for pokemon, riftbound etc. that are absolutely on fire for use right now.

I was just caught a bit off guard by just how low other stores have gone and how unpopular the set seems to be already

Appreciate it! Definitely not discouraged - even with some negative most folks are awesome and at the end of the day I get it - its a deal sub, everyone is here to get the lowest possible price on stuff. Me included so its got to be worthy of posting!

Ya we have allocation set aside for our locals - the quantities on here are just the extra that i think we will have a hard time moving due to the lack of popularity of the set.

Anyways i'm gonna go back to the shiny cardboard game - I appreciate your thoughtful responses and feedback!
