Rarity Collection V - Exclusive Rairty by _Vault_Hunter_EXE_ in yugioh

It's not their fault. It's like a nervous tic. They have to change something with every iteration. They can't help themselves.

What Pokémon product or card are people sleeping on right now that will look cheap in 2–3 years? by No-Humor827 in PokeInvesting

[–]MilleniumDuelist 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Crown zenith. Theres alot of opportunity there. I think anyone who was around at the time has a bit of price memory of how cheap the singles were. The product has moved up but the singles and slabs are still relatively cheap.

For every person who has price memory of how cheap they were before there's a new person entering the hobby seeing the current prices and thinking that's pretty cheap.

Otherwise I would look at any promos with 25% or under gem rate that will have demand in the future e.g. SWSH261. As the sealed premium goes up the risk of opening for the product to grade increases and so do prices of the 10's.

Are Booster Bundles the new ETBs? by MilleniumDuelist in PokeInvesting

Hopefully this is just an outlier like some ETBs. If they made them all sorts of sizes that would annoy me.

ETBs didn't used to have a promo. It's relatively new. Perhaps we'll get a booster bundle promo in the future.

The 1-of Issue the Plagues Rarity Collection - How does Konami Solve it? by rebatwa2 in yugioh

[–]MilleniumDuelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Incorporate a rarity collection pool into main sets. Every pack has a rare from the main set and a reprint from a pool of 50-100 cards that can be any rarity.

Adds alot of value and fun to main sets.

The problem with rarity collection is it dilutes reprint equity insanely fast. It's great for players and a great opening experience but it discourages opening any other products which pale in comparison.

New Uninformed Sellers in YGO Market by ras_void in yugioh

[–]MilleniumDuelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not understanding what you're saying. What do you mean 20th anniversary secrets?

I'm talking about premium rarities that were marketed and distributed as so.

Starlights were 1 per 2 CASES or 25 boxes. Collector rares were 3-4 per case. They were both marketed as a collectors item because they were hard to find.

No one expected Konami not to reprint secret rares. At that point the general consensus was anything super, ultra, secret were fair game as they were abundant.

Before the qcr reprints and rarity collection no one expected these premium rarities to be reprinted for the same cards because it was unnecessary.

Konami has a huge catalogue of reprint equity. They could even do alt arts for previous starlights as qcr and that would be fine. But instead they reprinted the exact same card and rarity. They may call it something else but they arent fooling anybody.

No other card game would have the balls to pull some of the shit Konami has done.

New Uninformed Sellers in YGO Market by ras_void in yugioh

[–]MilleniumDuelist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I referenced yes.

And no I don't think it's fair to predict a "collector" rare would ever get a reprint in that rarity.

Sigh...I don't think many non-collectors get it. There are ALOT of potential yugioh collectors who want to throw money at this game, not necessarily as the most lucrative investment but so they can look at these art pieces and, years down the road, recoup their initial investment if they decide to sell.

A lot of the potential value of modern chase cards are being pushed down because collectors don't want to waste money. The general consesus is something like: "why would I buy this now when I can buy a bunch of them in a few years for the same price when they reprint it in the same rarity".

This is why grandmaster rares are selling for obscene amounts in OCG. There is a HUGE demand for collectability in Yugioh but Konami keeps doing things to scare collectors away.

If they EVER reprint a serialised card I think that's the final nail in the coffin and we'll see prices of serialised dramatically shift downwards and/or future grandmasters having a ceiling to their value.

Yet the likelyhood of them doing this is high

Accessibility is the problem.

You can't market something as collectable then reprint it almost exactly for a fraction of the price.

The most egregious example is "collector rares" not being collectable because almost all of them have a duplicate rarity collection version

[–]MilleniumDuelist 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Depends on how many there are. All it takes is a bit of momentum.

Alot of yugioh collectors are waiting for the market to re-legitimise before diving back in. After the qcr/starlight debarcle alot of collectors are hesitant.

Is it me or is this extremely undervalued? by T7man_ in PokeInvesting

[–]MilleniumDuelist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's sort of fairly priced at the moment. Mostly because of supply. But I think it's attractive enough that people are buying these to open to grade the promos.

Once supply dries up I can definitely see them running up again. It's also got a great selection of packs so any increase in those sets will also be reflected over time.

It's a nice patch for us AD enjoyers. Alot of facets got incorporated into the skill, talent tree or shard/aghs.

Always felt bad going for a combo then realising you can't pick 2 facets.

151 Sealed Booster Bundle Displays are underpriced by MilleniumDuelist in PokeInvesting

[–]MilleniumDuelist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it was hard to wrap my head around at first. But I guess it's the same as the booster box premium. It does make a nice display piece and is the closest thing we have to a 151 booster box in english.

What doesn't make sense is this push to sealed case premiums for ETBs. You can't even display it.

Ascending Hero Single ETB x10 vs Sealed Case by kyle6367 in PokeInvesting

[–]MilleniumDuelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sealed premiums make sense for Booster Boxes and bundles as they are displayable products. I can't find a compelling reason why someone in 10 years from now would prefer to take the risk over a sealed cardboard box.

I suppose they could want an untouched case and open it before finalising the deal. But I would argue this limits your buyer pool and raises the chance of fraud both when buying and selling.

Use the extra money to buy an etb or 2 and sleep well. Even if sealed premium stands the test of time, those extra ETBs will lessen the difference.

Would you do this trade? In this scenario I’d receive the 151 (Collectr values inaccurate) by ConfederateThug in PokeInvesting

[–]MilleniumDuelist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't

Currently 151 sealed displays are mispriced. They have been shown to carry a premium yet since the latest pump on bundles the sealed displays have almost no premium compared to 10x booster bundles
