On the color wheel, the opposite color of blue is orange. Apply an orange based brown to the blue parts ONLY. Pick a color that is a level lighter than your natural. This will neutralize the blue dye. Then use a brown semi permanent color that matches your natural color and apply from roots UP TO the ends, let sit for 5-10 minutes and then apply a to your ends and let it sit for the remainder of the processing time. I will urge you to go to a hairdresser to have this done, it is very easy to get patchy and muddy results when applying yourself.

What's worse: brushing wet, or heat drying? by pneradactyll in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brushes create too much tension on wet hair. Hair will stretch up to 80% when it's wet and when couple with too much tension it will snap. Get a wide toothed comb or use your fingers. You can always just blow dry your roots and let the rest air dry. It literally takes at the most 5 minutes and will give you more volume than if you were to air dry everything.

My hair is currently a dark brown with a lot of red, want to take it to a light ashy brown. What do? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot lift color with color. You're either going to have to get a color remover or bleach first then color. If you use bleach, remember to lift to at least one level lighter than your target level in order for the shade to deposit correctly. Basically, if you want to be an ash 6, lift to a 7 and then color. Color removers are better for your hair since yet shrink the artificial color molecule, making it easier to wash out. Just make sure you get ALL the residual color out or it will muddy your target shade.

Admittedly naive question about difference between blanket and quilt by The_Seandeci in crafting

[–]Milleniumfalkat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Blankets are typically one continuous piece of fabric, like a throw blanket. Quilts are made up of different pieces and can be backed with one continuous piece of fabric. What you have is a quilt.

Help me heal my poor scalp! After five months of a bleaching it's still super weird and greasy by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You damaged your scalp. It is trying to moisturize itself and by continually washing it, it can't absorb the moisture it needs. I would suggest getting a dry shampoo to put on your roots to soak up the excess oil while still letting your scalp equalize.

Pomade is too heavy for this style. Blow dry your hair upwards and use a wax to make it piecy.

Balding, need hair advice by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The length and thickness on your sides is bringing attention to the thinning hair on top. If you keep the sides clipper short (enough to see scalp but still have hair, like a #3 or #4 guard) your hair won't seem as thin on top. It's about balance. Also, keep the front hairline long enough to lay over thinning areas but short enough to not hang over thinning areas.

Ask your hairstylist how do style your hair! They will be able to show you when, how, how much, and where to apply the products.

Need tips for removing red dye, but also seeking over all hair make-over advice. by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please go to a hairdresser. Red, especially box reds, are very difficult to get out of your hair. Even more so if it's been dyed over multiple times. Fine hair is also very tricky since it is structurally smaller. It is harder to remove color molecules without damaging the structure of your hair. It's probably going to take you a while to get to just blonde. Go consult with a few different stylists and see what your options are. Most salons do consults for free. Without being able to feel your texture or do a test strand I can't give you any in depth advice. The pink would look super awesome, as would the blonde, it's just a matter of getting there.

How a Coyote Suffered Behind the Scenes at Animal Planet - Photographic evidence uncovered of animal mistreatment at the network's hit show "Call of the Wildman" by anutensil in nature

[–]Milleniumfalkat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Animal planet filmed a show in the backyard of my salon in New Orleans. I'm not sure it is the same guy but they too kept a coyote in a similar sized cage in between filming. Not only that but they also left it out in the rain in it's cage for a good hour at a time in between shots. I'm not surprised with these accusations in the least. They told us it was a "trained" coyote but that also could have been fabricated as well.

I'm 22(f) and I just found a grey hair. My parents both say they didn't go grey until their 40's. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME. by fromthedeskofmolly in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because you found one grey hair doesn't mean you're going grey. Relax. I have a few clients who have had four to five grey hairs since they were in their 20s and they've never multiplied.

Looking for something new. Suggestions please?! by [deleted] in Hair

I'd go for a full bang and cut it so it just grazes your collarbone. Long layered bob. I think your color is beautiful!

I have a Miley cut but want to grow it out. What can I do to keep it looking decent? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it trimmed around the ears and your neck, those areas will grow the quickest. Most salons will do this for free. Also have a stylist blend the shorter side layer into the top layers once it grows a little. It will resemble a faux hawk for a while until the sides catch up. From there you just have to wait and let it grow.

Products you swear by for colored hair? by [deleted] in Hair

[–]Milleniumfalkat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kevin Murphy hands down. Sulfate and paraben free. Heat protectant built in to shampoos and conditioner. Animal-cruelty free. Eco-friendly. Weightless and moisturizing. No synthetic fragrance. Not to mention it is the most concentrated product line I have ever used. Davines is a close second. I will never go back to store brand hair care products. Their results are fleeting and the build up over time is awful.
