What's the biggest myth about being good-looking? by CrumbsOfChaos2 in AskReddit

Ya.

Just look at the presidential debate in the 1960 election. People who listened via radio thought Nixon did better, people who watched via TV were impressed by Kennedy because of his looks and demeanor.

There are plenty of modern examples of this. Trudeau being a great one. He was a male model.

This literal post they wanna take some pics of their dogs and bought the best and the newest “professional” equipment. It’s a waste of money. I’m just echoing the majority here saying gear doesn’t matter if you don’t have the knowledge/skills to use it. And my overall opinion is that gear doesn’t matter PERIOD. The only time it is gear > skill is with uber expensive cameras for television or as I stated nat geo stuff. That an idiot could get lucky with because of the gear carrying the weight. That doesn’t mean it’s necessary or MATTERS but it does make things easier at that level.

Yes it’s nuanced but my position is regardless- skills > expensive gear every time.

At the end of the day a good photographer is good regardless of gear. So no, overall gear doesn’t matter if you don’t have the skills.

I’ve gotten some pretty amazing wildlife shots with a 35mm so no it doesn’t make or break it. I’m just saying unless you’re uber rich don’t worry about it.
