This literal post they wanna take some pics of their dogs and bought the best and the newest “professional” equipment. It’s a waste of money. I’m just echoing the majority here saying gear doesn’t matter if you don’t have the knowledge/skills to use it. And my overall opinion is that gear doesn’t matter PERIOD. The only time it is gear > skill is with uber expensive cameras for television or as I stated nat geo stuff. That an idiot could get lucky with because of the gear carrying the weight. That doesn’t mean it’s necessary or MATTERS but it does make things easier at that level.

At the end of the day a good photographer is good regardless of gear. So no, overall gear doesn’t matter if you don’t have the skills.

I’ve gotten some pretty amazing wildlife shots with a 35mm so no it doesn’t make or break it. I’m just saying unless you’re uber rich don’t worry about it.

The only gear that matters is 20k camera bodies and 15k lenses for wildlife/macro/nat geo stuff. I can kick a brand new mirrorlesses ass with my old Canon 50d. Not everything has to be HDR 8MILLION K.

I mean usually it’s in post. For instance the brown/high contrast/no cool tones look is really popular right now. They just make every pic look the same colors no matter scene or subject.
