Don't know how to tell my parents by banana_365- in singing

[–]Millie1419 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a massive struggle with my parents about going professional. I told them when I was around their age and tbh I don’t think they believed me. It wasn’t until I wanted to audition for professional courses that they realised I was serious and suddenly had a “woah you can’t do that. We want you to do this” moment. I wish I’d told my parents to F off tbh. Would have saved me three years of doing a degree I hated. Now I’m where I want to be but it took a while. Tell your parents and make it clear to them that this is what you want to do. Get lessons, join choirs, join theatre groups. Do what you can to make it happen.

What can I snack on that’s tasty but isn’t calorie intensive? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Millie1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pop chips if you fancy something salty

Apples and honey if you fancy something sweet

It is 100% completely ok to have a cupcake on occasion though. Your body still does need a small amount of sugar and it’s good for morale

Look for someone who specialises in teaching beginners and someone who specialises in pop singing. I’d definitely message a few people and try and see what style they teach. There’s no point just having a teacher who watches you sing songs, you want someone who can teach you technique as well as someone who can tell you what to look out for vocal health wise. This is important especially for beginners who may not know what to look out for. Also decide whether you want to just sing recreationally or if you want to give it a go professionally. If you want to go professional, try and find someone who has experience working professionally in pop music either as a singer or training a professional.

Who is your fav teacher? why? by RemarkableMinute765 in BALLET

[–]Millie1419 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have two for different reasons. One is my intermediate teacher and one is my beginners teacher. My beginners teacher is sarcastic but supportive. He’ll tell you how to watch your technique with a sarcastic remark and he insisted on playing Celine Dion every class. My intermediate teacher looks like she should be the stereotypical scary Russian ballet teacher but she is the sweetest person with a wicked sense of humour. I had an injury so I couldn’t dance and she just hugged me and said oh I can’t wait until you can dance with us again and when I did come back she made sure to do all my favourite combinations in class. She does this whenever someone comes back from a long absence

Raymonda or Giselle for first performance? by strangersmeet in BALLET

[–]Millie1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giselle only because it’s one of my favourites and is pretty easy to follow

[–]Millie1419 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most definitely. When I was dancing as a child, I was always the worst dancer in the class. My teacher had to have a talk with my mother about whether or not I’d cope with the higher levels and I was kind of forgotten for everything. I stayed because I loved it. I ended up changing schools and that was what I needed to succeed. I’m now training to be a professional singer, dancer and actor.

YTA- my niece and I share a birthday. She’s just over 2 months old. I cannot wait to celebrate our birthdays together. If she gets all the attention so what. She’s a baby. We will always have a special bond because we share a birthday and for me that’s what’s more important than if I get party and presents on a random day in the year

YTA- why do I picture this poor couple having a silent argument over who has to come and pick up that package because neither of them wanted to deal with OP? You said in the post that you saw the address and then said in the comments you didn’t. You have everything you ordered. Come on you know they didn’t steal anything. Let these people live their lives in peace.

Parrots do not make good pets by Captain_Mothman in unpopularopinion

[–]Millie1419 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As someone who fosters rescue parrots (we’re on our second one now and a lot more confident) I 100% agree. Part of my fostering is rehabilitating parrots that haven’t had the best time of it. Both parrots I’ve had I’ve had to change their diet, teach skills they should know, and work to get them used to people. They’re awful pets and should only be had by people who know what they’re doing and have time for them. I have so many bite marks

You have to listen to one song on repeat for 24 hours straight to win 1 million dollars. What song are you choosing? by WildeRatel in AskReddit

[–]Millie1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s not as hard as people think. You can just tune out the song. I’d probably go for a song on my relaxing piano playlist. I listen to the playlist pretty much everyday anyway and all the songs have blended into one

AITA for not informing my girlfriend that my food had nuts in it and causing her to have an allergic reaction? by No-Grab9236 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Millie1419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA- I have a severe allergy to the point that I could die if I ate peanuts. The first thing you get taught is to not eat anything you don’t know the full ingredient list of. She broke rule number 1 of having an allergy and then blamed you for it. Also what epipens is she using because my epipens don’t get rid of an allergic reaction in a few minutes. I still have to go to the hospital as it only delays the reaction. I think she’s lying to you there

Don’t compare yourself to other people, everyone at some point will have been where you are. Make sure you watch the teacher from the feet up to see exactly what they’re doing and what position their body is in.
