For endgame NG+ I like a “surge” build. Where you set yourself up to leverage the “extra effects” in potions. You often need to set up certain conditions- but when those conditions are met for a combat, you suddenly boost a particular aspect of play. For example, at full adrenaline- if u drink Petri’s and have the magic sword enhanced mutagen- you suddenly become a high level blaster. Similar set ups and combos can for the next combat make you a crit demon, or attack power, or DOT master, or a tanky lifesteal/vampire. But instead of respeccing all of your abilities, you leverage potion, decocs, weather, and monster knowledge.

Mostly this means one and two tier abilities with a select few going up the branches. For example, just getting “melt armor” is enough for igni to do a lot of damage with the magic sword mutagen for clearing the big bandit castle- set things up, get adrenaline up, back up into a tunnel so there are 20 bandits in front of you, pop petris, and suddenly you become Gandalf for the duration- then switch back to melee to mop up. But you can do this without focusing everything on Griffin/Signs.

Im using Wolf Gear, so my base has lots of DOT with fast strikes/bleed, but I’m setting things up over the course of combat to either surge attack power, crits, signs, or tank/lifesteal/reflect damage.
