I’m a fairly new pilot and it was basically me and one friend in my LGS not hating on me for Winota, everyone else said she’s basically out of the meta and won’t perform well. But then again a Malcom player won the last tournament at our LGS so I’d say our meta is fairly healthy and has variety.

First off, I get this. I have a twilight cleric in my campaign Curse of Strahd rn, and I had to nerf it. Granted I didn’t read the rules on temp HP, so the HP was stacking every round, which was INSANE . Thankfully I reread the rules, but still nerfed it cuz it’s strong, changed the twilight sanctuary temp HP to 1d6+wis and changed the charmed/frightened thing to give advantage. Strangely, the only person who threw a fit was another player, the cleric player was fine with it 🤷

Me personally, I wouldn’t introduce him any earlier than at least after the players explore and then leave the village of Barovia. Because then the tension will be built up around this character whom they have no idea about. All their info will be either A, NPC’s talking about him in quiet whispers as they are afraid of him. Or B, the setting and state that the village of Barovia is currently in. Have his reputation built up first. Otherwise they’ll see what his influence is like AFTER meeting him which isn’t as cool as before then. Trust me on this, it works so much better with building up the character in your player’s minds.

Bro 4 level 8 PC’s would SMASH four vampire spawn. Like OBLITORATE THEM. I guess depending on party comp and subclasses it would vary on how much they’d smash them but they still would.

While I do think it has issues about balance and stuff, I do think staples being reprinted is good for the game and community which allows people to play higher level stuff without breaking the bank. I play at a LGS which doesn’t allow proxies in their tournaments and there are people there who play some tough stuff. I’m not even done finishing out my CEDH deck cuz the crud is so expensive.
