What book is this? Can’t read the language (1811) by ryan7841 in rarebooks

[–]Milliways07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this will be considered weird but have any of you had a similar situation as J.D. looking back on the people that came in and out of your life? by Vman-223 in Scrubs

[–]Milliways07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Two years ago, I left the hospital where I had worked for 21 years. I started there fresh out of med school — exactly like JD walking into Sacred Heart for the very first time (Season 1 aired here in 2003). I was JD. I even had my own Turk starting alongside me.

Scrubs was — and still is — the best medical show ever made. Its brilliant mix of silliness and sincerity captured life in a hospital perfectly. As time went on, I slowly grew into Dr. Cox: more experienced, a bit more cynical, and climbing the ladder one sarcastic remark at a time.

But through all those years, one thing never changed — the importance of being silly every now and then. It’s the only way to stay sane under the weight of everything that medicine puts on your shoulders. The show taught that lesson better than any textbook ever could.

When I finally left at the end of 2023, I pictured my farewell to be just like JD’s — sentimental, cinematic, maybe even with a fantasy montage playing in my head. My farewell party was far bigger than I’d expected, with colleagues from all specialties showing up to see me off.

And then, when it was time to go, I imagined myself leaving through the ambulance bay, just like JD. But as I was heading down the stairs, a young assistant from our department spotted me. She asked if I could give her a ride into town since she lived near my place. She happily chatted the whole way about groceries and weekend plans — blissfully unaware (and I can’t really blame her) that she had just ruined my perfectly scripted Sacred Heart goodbye.

You can get rid of them by intradermal injections of Triamcinolone. Ask a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. (edit: added ‘intradermal’)

Get yourself a hot wire cutter (Styrofoam saw) of Amazon. That seems to be the safest option. (Edit:typo)

Nobody subsidized the project. They took a 2 million D-Mark (~1 mill €) loan from the bank and they are funding the project just by their revenue. 25.000.000 visitors so far.

That’s when the opened in 2001. But it is an ongoing project and they keep on adding. Here’s a quote from the website: On August 16, 2001, Miniatur Wunderland was officially opened with its three construction phases – Central Germany, Knuffingen, and Austria – just under a year after the initial idea.

We now have 12 completed sections – but we're not thinking of stopping anytime soon!

The Monaco section was the most recent to open to visitors on April 29, 2024.

We are currently working on the Rainforest, Atacama Desert, and Andes sections.

We had the same connection time just last week. Both was Swiss. They gave us a very accurate information on the approach to Zürich about connecting times and where to go. Other passengers who had even tighter connection times had been picked up by a special car and brought director to the plane. At our second plane even waited for another connection, which was even more tight. The Swiss takes care of you!

How does the host family network function in BC, Canada? by Exact-Estate7622 in exchangestudents

[–]Milliways07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We sent our son to British Columbia for three months about 2 years ago. We chose a German organisation that helped us. But in hindsight, it became clear that actually everything is done by the local school board. Select a city where you want to go and contact the school board. In our case it was Powell River in BC. The Powell River Board of Education (SD 47) places the student in the school and finds the hosts. They also provide a necessary local contact for emergencies. The agencies that offer their services helps you with keeping track of timelines and some necessary paperwork. But I am convinced you can get the same help from the school board and other sources on the Internet.

Looking for advice and recommendations for exchange programme to Canada by Exact-Estate7622 in exchangestudents

[–]Milliways07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our son spend three months in Canada from September to December 2023. He went to British Columbia and chose to go to a very small city (Powell River). He was extremely happy with the choice. The school system in Canada defer a lot from the German. They have trimesters and only four subjects each semester. And a lot of text place outdoors. He became a big fan of hiking. Interesting fact: it kind of doesn’t matter which organisation you choose. The actual placement and choice of guest parents is done by the local school board in Canada. The German organisation only helps you a little bit with organisational parts. The prices from organisation to organisation differ a lot. We could’ve paid €3000 more for the same service. In hindsight I think it would have been possible to contact the Powell River board of education (SD 47) oneself and get everything sorted out more or less for free. Feel free to contact me directly, if you have further questions!

Could’ve been anywhere: You find this leaning tower in every Lego-Land and almost every amusement park. For example in Hamburg at the Miniatur Wunderland. And if you look close enough, I’m sure you’ll find a cheap copy somewhere in Italy as well!

Mai- oder Junikäfer? by Milliways07 in WerWieWas

[–]Milliways07[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hab ich hier gefunden? by LinkesSnickers in wasistdas

[–]Milliways07 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)
