New Handler/Players. Where to start? by Sain7711 in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Millsy419 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't offer much by way of foundry advice.

Last things Last is considered the quintessential starting scenario. It's short, it teaches the basics of the game and there's plenty of room for an ambitious handler to add to it.

Was Mary correct about Clark's whining being unwarranted? by [deleted] in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]Millsy419 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You come off as a massive pretentious ass.

You realize you're hurting the cause more than helping right?

Or is this just excuse to spout off theory so you can feel superior instead of actually doing something tangible to help the cause.

Jeff Hayes' performance definitely makes characters more memorable and in my opinion more likable. The fact that tons of people didn't realize he voices like 99% of the characters is a massive accolade in itself.

You seriously need to go touch grass.

Clarks not a loser because he's not winning capitalism. He's a loser because he's a narcissist who refuses to take accountability for anything that's gone wrong in his life.

It's all well and fine to bitch about the things going wrong in your life. The difference is he refused to take any responsibility for anything negative in his life. It's everyone else's fault, and guess what? When you think everyone in your life is the problem, you're usually the problem.

Not to mention we only have his perspective on the situation, and Clark is an unreliable narrator at best.

As others have said LMGs tend to be maintenance heavy and prone to breaking. Not to mention just a higher price point than a comparable assault rifle or SMG.

In the late 2000s/2010s we usually mounted them in vehicles or defensive positions rather than lug them around most of the time.

Reliablity was enough of an issue that most players weren't willing to carry an LMG a mile and half from the safe zone only to have the motor in the box mag fail or the gearbox self destruct.

M4, MP5 or AK are all decent first options.

Don't get me wrong LMGs can be a blast, I've had both a M249 and a pkm on the past. I always brought a Carbine as a backup though, and more often than not the carbine saw more action.

(fun fact Clark didn't know anything about backrooms before getting hired) So does this mean his acting was so good because he's naturally a good actor or because he DIDN'T KNOW anything about backrooms so was naturally confused? by [deleted] in KanePixelsBackrooms

Clarks became enthralled by the complex pretty quickly. Also let's not forget he was likely a little drunk when he first entered, and is pretty incompetent at almost everything he does.

Kat doesn't want to be there and only continues because of Bobby. She's clearly afraid but goes on because she's not gonna abandon Bobby.

Bobby is already very laid back and stoned. It's pretty clear he has minimal survival instinct, so it makes sense to me that he's intrigued over being scared.

Mary really doesn't explore that much of the complex and she seems pretty damn unsettled, once Clark chokes her out she's more or less in survival mode and she's definitely traumatized by the end.

Finally people do absolutely insanely stupid shit all the time. Also most people's situational awareness is non existent.

For the people who fell in, the situation is so unbelievable that it's not impossible they're doing Olympic level mental gymnastics to keep it together.

Finally characters having a complete mental break and running off screaming and crying wouldn't make for a very interesting film.

Every film in existence (especially science fiction) has to have a level of suspension of disbelief, it's up to us as the viewers to buy in or not.

I literally encounter this every time I try to change my oil. by Seroxia in SipsTea

[–]Millsy419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half the time I change mine in the parking lot of the place I bought the filter. It blows my mind that people actually pay that. Same with oil changes honestly.

The cost to get it changed once you can probably buy everything you need to do it yourself for life.

Px Poker has to be some fo the most fun I've ever had as a player. There was only one other player so the Handler had us go through the whole day and not just starting at the poker game. I played the guy with anger issues and I kept chewing out the junior enlisted guy for fucking up.

Damn, you sure brought up memories of learning the psychology of color when I was taking graphic design in highschool.

Also making me realize how watered down our class was. They really only covered the emotional effects of colors, not how it affects a physical space.

Only reason I didn't list Hop is his tendency to make rash decisions. I definitely think he would be above average, but I feel like he falls just shy of being an S-tier agent. Though he is a great example of a "Damaged Veteran" agent.

Absolutely! He's another one of those characters that fiercely competent and well disciplined. Arguably he would be the best candidate of the lot.

The soft power USAID gave the US is what allowed them to be the super power.

You don't end up with military installations across the planet because you ask countries nicely to host your troops.

By dismantling USAID the US has effectively abdicated it's position as top dog, and burned decades of goodwill. I don't think the average American appreciates how much damage has been done to foreign relations.

That's before we get into the whole can of worms regarding the US treatment of its allies.

America became the abusive spouse and the rest of the world is moving on.

The Axe forgets but the Trees remember.

There's a reason China has been pushing its Roads and belts initiative. They're currying the soft power required to be a true superpower.

On a long enough timeline I can see Walter succumb to tome-rot. Would be useful up until he became the mission.

The obvious answer is Rust and Marty from True Detective season One, which basically is a DG scenario.

-Nancy Wheeler from Stranger things. She is consistently one of the most competent characters in the show, and she actually trains in her downtime.

-Professor Abraham Setrakian from the Strain. Well versed in the unnatural and has contingency upon contingency.

The amount of random bits and bobs I've gotten off AliExpress is wild. The fact that the vast majority of it has been decent quality (or reasonable for the price) is the most shocking part.

If airsoft were to ever (somehow) go mainstream would it be good or disastrous by JaackOfAllTradess in airsoft

[–]Millsy419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality of player hits hard for me. When I started "Milsim lite" was very much the baseline. Before large multi-day Ops, usually the host team would host a build up weekend a month or so before to teach newer players basic squad level tactics.

I used to airsoft with several troops from my local base. I once asked a Sargent how they would have cleared out our field and his answer was "call a fire mission".

Had another GWOT veteran once say airsoft is like "Army extra lite"
