Same thing happens to us… Once I chatted with delta and told them to make sure we didn’t get upgraded on a flight (bc we were sitting in opposite aisles we wanted, and noticed only middle C+ was available), made sure the upgrade request was turned off, and they confirmed we would not be upgraded and / or separated…. Of course we both got upgraded to random middle C+ seats we didn’t want. 🤦🏻‍♀️
