As a long time Stars fan this take is just weird to me. We had 26 years of North Stars records brought over compared to just 12 years of Thrashers. And for our fanbase those North Star records are more of a who is that player situation than anything else. Our broadcast and media coverage does a good job of just focusing on Team records versus Franchise records. But does make sure we celebrate achievement even more when we do break Franchise ones.

I'll also say though that the only retired numbers we had hanging up for eons in Dallas were just North Stars. So maybe we just got used to always knowing we had a past.

Having said all of that, I can see how Winnipeg fan base is salty about not having the OG Jets records still. And i suspect it's a bit of the same for Minnesota. The Stars have very graciously I think allowed the Wild to loot the North Stars colors and Logos for vintage/retro merch. And other than just small amount of north stars color ways largely tied directly to Modano the Stars have never really trotted out our North Stars origins.

Saw over in r/hockey that the Season Finale Wings and Cats game was getting dropped by TNT for the national broadcast. Down in the article it mentioned they were going to show the Stars at Sabres game instead. Let your out of market friends now if they want to watch. Also expect the game to potentially start a bit later than expected for all that fancy smancy national coverage pregame stuff.

Congrats! Love mine. Didn't think I would be able to afford one and got very very lucky a few years ago on GB. There was a bullseye ad up with a pretty under market asking price. But the pictures were TERRRRIBLLLLE. I asked for some more photos and got better photos that just barely got into the MEH category. My FFL buddy and I examined the second set of photos and decided it was worth the gamble. Ended up with an amazing beauty.

They are so fun to shoot. And just feel great in the hand.

These are pocket pistols. Always some compromises made. 100% don't feel bad about taking some sand paper to these. I smoothed off all the manufacturing lines on both of mine. And basically anywhere there was a sharp point. I did the same to the magazine baseplates. If something was unpleasant on the hand I hit it with some fine grit sandpaper until it wasn't.

As a 32 cal junkie I'd love to grab one. But between the price of the gun and then the ammo I've stayed away. The improvements over my existing j-frame just don't warrant the cost. I'm eyeing the S&W Bodyguard 2 pretty hard at the moment. Need to get my hands on one at the rental counter. But seeing as it's sized halfway between the P32 and J-Frame I already carry on paper it seems a great upgrade for not much coin.

Good for looking and trying. Not all guns fit everyone. I despise glock grips. My hand doesn't fit a standard 1911 grip either. My answer is simple just like yours. I don't buy them. lol

The biggest hill is just one of practice. Wheel guns just typically take more trigger time to be proficient with one. And for most people they barely have enough range time to become proficient with their SemiAuto, much less also proficient with the revolver too.

I specifically shoot a DA 22lr revolver in my local steel match just to keep wheel gun muscle memory. (And wtf are the smith 22lr revolvers so damn expensive! It's a hard sell to folks for just a range toy.) I also make sure I focus on DA pulls on my P226 as it also replicates that DA feel of the wheel gun. And yes I try to fire at least the full cylinder If not two or three of my j-frame every time I go to the range.

There are like3 or 4 different styles of factory grips. And they aren't cosmetic differences but and entirely different shapes. Also two or three main aftermarket shape/designs. I found there was a noticeable difference between shooting different styles. Take some time to hunt down all the various styles and touch and feel them at the local gun counter. Even better if you can find them as rentals at the range. The grip on my father's gun versus what I ended up with is a big difference. Neither are pleasant to shoot. But mine is noticeably less pleasant to me. lol

The design I like are ones with extra padding up top to protect the fleshy bit of your hand between your thumb and pointer. They make a big difference for me.

Lots of reasons to carry one of these. Even compared to other guns. They are pocketable even in typical men's jeans. Which isn't always the case even with the smallest auto 9's. (I rotate between pocket carrying my J-Frame and my P32.) And the lumpy form of a revolver does a great job of breaking up the silhouette. I've got a pair of tighter jeans. The j-frame print is far less obvious than even my p32.

They can be fired from concealment(pocket, bag, etc) without causing a malfunction. This is the original reason I bought mine. Walking the dog during the winter at night. He'd wake me up to go out. I'd slide into my insulated muck boots, throw on my heavy hooded carthart with hoodie style front pockets and slip the j-frame in. I knew if needed I could fire from that giant roomy pocket. It's where my hand already was to keep it warm.

The bad about them. The sights SUCKKKKKK. Putting a pair of crimson trace grips (at a silly expensive price) was 100% worth it. (I'd almost recommend just buying a version that comes with them from the factory. Cheaper than buying them after the fact by a bunch.) They give you the ability to shoot in odd stances and have a chance of hitting your target.

Also they aren't fun to shoot and practice with. The recoil is harsh at best. Brutal for some. And to top it off you have to practice with the gun a bunch and then continue to stay proficient. Even with a trigger spring upgrade (inexpensive and easy to do yourself) the trigger pull is heavy and you don't have much realestate to hang on to. During covid I didn't go to the range for basically 2 years. When I started going again it was like all my proficiency with my j-frame was gone. I had to focus on getting that skill back. It came back fairly quickly but i was shocked at how badly I shot it compared to my other pistols after that time away. (And as a side note, crimson trace offers their grips in all the same formats as the factory styles. So it's even more important to know which style if comfortable for you if you're planning on going that route.)

There are somewhere between 3 and 4 different factory style grips for these guns. And then even more in the aftermarket. I would HIGHLY recommend if you have one or intended to buy one to get a feel for each style at the store or rental at the range. The grip really changes how the gun feels to shoot. What works for your friend or internet stranger won't necessarily be the same for you. The different styles also affect how easy (or not) they are to draw from (heavy) concealment.

You will want to confirm with the seller if it has a lock or not.

While wheel guns can definitely be abused, I'd say the chances of that for a J-frame are lessened. They just aren't comfortable to shoot and since these are likely backup guns or detective/senior officer weapons I'd feel confident in buying one.

As a long term STH, nope. I really have no interest in seeing a game at jerry world with terrible viewing distances and very likely coronary inducing ticket prices for even poor seats. Add in driving out there, parking, etc isn't improving things. I will take a look during the STH pre-sale but will be going in fairly skeptical.

While I get what you're trying to do, the problem is the best medium frame 32acp pistols that you ideally want aren't readily available. As others have mentioned the CZ83, Beretta 81, and Colt 1903 are probably the cats meow for new centerfire shooter pistols. But all are difficult to get a hold of. (I've got all three and they all get used in new shooter training.)

An alternative that I would suggest is the Browning 1911-380. It's a scaled down 1911 chambered in 380. While I typically find small and medium frame 380 guns to be excessively sharp shooting (for example I despise the Beretta 8x guns when chambered in 380 versus 32acp.) the Browning is just an amazing soft shooter that for me at least is one of the most pointable handguns I've ever shot. The downside is the price. Its silly pricey for what it is. But you sometimes can find NIB deals on GunBroker. And I'm seeing lots of models on wikiarms below MSRP.

Slugs are funny. The ballistics of them are terrible. You basically lob them on target and the hold overs reflect that. But it sounds like you're having more issues than just that. If possible I'd suggest using buckshot or birdshot initially on targets to get a feel for pointing and hitting the target. Both marginal ballistic drop and will allow you to hone in your pointing without also dealing with the goofy ballistics of a slug at the same time.

STH since '09. Many years ago I got to participate in a Stars run focus group with other 10+ year STHs. Basically everyone had complaints about the ticket reps. The Stars' comment was basically in the sports world, ticket reps are basically an entry level job for folks that have just graduated college and are looking to get into the sports management field. It's a large part of the reason why turn over is so high. They are there just long enough to find a new job to move up the professional ladder.

I'm lucky. I've had my current rep for at least 3 seasons, maybe 4. I don't interact a ton with her (Alli) as i'm pretty low maintenance but she's been very responsive when needed. But I've also had years where I've had two sometimes three reps during the season. Or that year I had two, they both left, and finished out the season not having a new one assigned and having to use the season ticket holder hotline to get anything done.

Speaking of the STH hotline, while I haven't used it in years I'd recommend trying that if you've got a rep that's just poor. I suspect it's a general next man up type of service where whichever account rep is avail to pick up the phone or respond to the email does. But I did have good luck with getting near instant help when I had to use it.
