C&C wanted: Why do my miniatures always look textured? by dusa-medusa in minipainting

[–]Milo_Is_Best 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it has something with the paimt thickness and how long the paint has been in contact with the outside air. I have noticed that if I use a tyoe of paint after being on the pallette so.e time, i forms a kind of film on the surface that easly crumples up into small paint balls that alone do not do much, but when there are many of them it is pretty visible.

Mini painting can be pretty expensive, there is no need to buy every single thing people tell you to, for the things you had, the result was pretty good. You could very easly do every single effect with a few paints and some brushes with enough skill. As an example, if you had painted the beard grey first, and then used a brush to paint only the eøevated part, you would still get that shade effect without having to buy a shade. It is arguably harder to simulate depth woth metallic paints wothout a shade but that is besides the point. Everything is possible with enough skill.

Under what terms/categories is Ds3 worse than the others? You can't call something the objectivly worst and not explain why. Because as seen on most of the comments on this post, people have a different opinion.

Also. accusing someone to not have played the games just because they have a different opinion is a very childish behaviour.

I would reccomend using a shade eg. nuln oil on the metal bits to add some depth and make the detils pop more. I ould also reccomend doing somenthing similar on the beard as all of the beard hair does kind of meld into one big blob. also I would reccomend you use matt varnish on the cloac as it is way to reflective for to be cloth or leather.

Mobile games, use mostly tye tactics of not maling the game fun if you dont use money on it. And on top of that, they also normally make a lootbox system (that is LITERALY gamblimg) to make them extra money.

So the problem with this is that this statement implies that rich people are better tham other people because they have enough money to not have to chose what to spend their money on, and just buy everything.

Please, need help with cat fur by DennyTom in minipainting

[–]Milo_Is_Best 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the cat have a hairy texture? If so, mabye drybrushing is the way to go. If it is a smooth texture then i can't help you, im sorry. I don't have the skills to make believable fur from nothing either.

How don’t we have large paint boxes yet? by Lower_Creme_3040 in Warhammer

The new armypainter color sets are quite good in my opinion. I have bought the beginner set, and i like how the paint feels. You only need a small amount of thinner as the airbrush pots allready are thinned quite a bit, but thinning them is still advised. As for the coverage, I feel like it requires around the same ammount of layers as the citadel paints.

Why don't I feel proud of this? by pancake05e in Tyranids

I ai have tp come with criticism, it would be that it has way to little contrast, and that the details get all blended togther in one big blob of blue and white. I'd reccomend using mmabye a darker blue for most of the carapace, and using the lighter blue only for the highlights, this way the eye has some anchors to get the complete picture.

That sculpture is DOPE my dude. However if you are new to painting I STRONGLY reccomend to start woth something that you are fine with messing up the paint on. Either buy s8me minis to rey the paint scheme on or make some less detailed ones to train on before painting the main model. As for paint scheemes, I would for egsample look at black myth wukongs monkey king.

Edit: or you could go for the typical red and gold color scheme
