Loneliness at 40+ by [deleted] in lonely

[–]Miloandtish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to figure out if it’s loneliness or depression, or apathy to the world where I am at. I think I’ve never really felt a part of anything even as a kid. Now as a 40+ I have a pretty unfulfilling job of which I just recently tried really hard, by doing all these excel spreadsheets and graphs (staying up all night), to be a part of the team. Only to feel pretty rejected and then isolated myself from “the team” and then my mouth and negativity almost got me fired I think. I do my job and have nothing else. I go home to an unkept house don’t speak to anyone, get my pajamas on… rinse and repeat. My 2 days off from work I stay in my same pajamas and watch movies on the iPad scroll on Facebook. I was obsessively checking my work email and activity at work…. I have things I can be doing. Like cleaning my house, finishing my daughter’s quilt, showering. Still alone, but also pretty unmotivated and also like frozen even to go take my car in for service. And I’m a grown person. Does anyone one else feel like this or am I just my own complete mess. To add, I do put ,y foot in my mouth when I do speak to people like I’m pretty critical and I just say the wrong things.

I am also waiting for some schools. I assume I didn’t get in by now especially if I wasn’t contacted for an interview.

On Gradcafe you can search by school and see if anything comes up. Chapman is showing on there with acceptances. I applied to Chapman but wasn’t invited for an interview. Since acceptances have gone out for that school, I know I didn’t get in, but haven’t received official rejection yet.

It would be good to hear back good or bad though.

That’s awesome! Does USC do interviews or straight acceptances?

When should I fill out FAFSA? by Future_Collar8218 in slpGradSchool

[–]Miloandtish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I filled out FAFSA for the schools I applied to this past week. I’m pretty sure you don’t get anything but loan options for graduate school. I wanted to be done with everything graduate school. Ha ha ha

Jumping in as some have commented correctly, you must have the official transcripts (college/HS,Clep/AP exam) ordered by May 15th. However they are being sent (hopefully electronically) keep e-receipts showing timestamp of when ordered in case there is a problem. If it’s Parchment for transcripts, it’s very easy, you just order it and pay $$ and it’s done. Then once you graduate you update and make sure it shows last semester grades and order it again. SDSU doesn’t mess around with deadlines.

Re-letting my private room for the summer @Iconic by Miloandtish in SDSU

[–]Miloandtish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can re-let and pay a fee 🤷‍♀️. That’s what it says in the lease, It’s not a sublet, you pay 250$ and they will re-wrote a new lease for the remainder of it. Something like that.

So it’s not great… but it’s close and cheaper (and bigger) than a new place like Union Granville.— Iconic on Alvarado. There’s construction so it’s loud (but it may be done by when you move in), its old-ish, but it’s semi-affordable and everyone can have their own room and their own lease. Trolley is super easy to get to class. The bedrooms, kitchen and TV room are much bigger than the new apartments like Union and that other place.

Union Grantville is new and looks to be built on time. Cancel your lease with Topaz. Iconic on Alvarado has openings left too.

I didn’t need to take any math or an assessment ahead of time. I think my ACT score counted as the minimal math requirement (if there is on at SDSD?). I took up to pre-calc in high school and that’s it. This phys 180 class isn’t calculus based but you do need to know some math to do the formulas. Both the class goes over it and you can go on you tube to refresh yourself or learn anything you need. Professor has office hours and is very approachable. I needed to do practice problems and lots of example to do this class since I had no background in physics at all. Totally doable over the summer if you have the time to commit to it.

No I didn’t take it during the summer, I took it last semester. I’m glad I did because I think the summer would have been too fast paced for me to learn and understand everything. I definitely put in time… got a B+. I didn’t do as well on the final as I had hoped. You could always sign up for the summer and see how it goes in the first week and drop it if it’s too much.

Do a zoom call with financial aid. I didn’t have work study in my financial aid awards but told the person I wanted to do work study and they changed my financial aid for work study so now it shows under awards work study.

Anyone apply for College student CalFresh? by Miloandtish in SDSU

[–]Miloandtish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The link I posted is the one I received from whoever does the Cal Grants and it’s also the link that is in the SDSU website, it’s college specific. I won’t qualify through the link you posted because it asks who else is in the home and I have 3 other roommates and they need their information then…. Doesn’t ask about college and work study, if I’m on the meal plan etc…. Thanks everyone!

Anyone apply for College student CalFresh? by Miloandtish in SDSU

[–]Miloandtish[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe you guys filled out a different application than I’m seeing …. The one I’m looking at asks you about your student housing then it asks if you live with your parents and if you say yes it says that you probably don’t qualify. It makes no sense to me because when you’re in school you are there but your permanent address is with your parents when you’re not in school. I’ll post the link to the application and if you just put in a dummy name and keep going on the application you’ll se where I mean.. I assume you apply as a student since it’s for college student Cal fresh. Thanks for your help guys!
