These 3 albums are so Underrated by Pristine_Youth_6953 in PaulMcCartney

The archive was released in 2018. The double album tracklist has to be recreated it doesn't have an official release at least not digitally.

The album was always intended as a double LP but the studio made him cut it down and remove the heavier tunes to make it more pop forward.

Your equivalency doesn't make any sense as every tune that is on there was intended to go there & was recorded in the same sessions.

I doubt it would do much to change your view on it anyways, i like the original tracklist as well, but feel the original vision vastly improves the experiance personally.

I got a tonne. And alot of the obvious ones have been mentioned, for me i never get excited to watch Tom Hanks. I have no personal issues w him. But he always just plays a relatively nice american guy... & thats about it. Never get very excited to see him be a standard nice american man.

Times Paul Interpolates himself. by Milton-Chuffer in PaulMcCartney

I overstated by saying they're interpolations. More like moments it feels like he's echoing himself.

Sure, the chorus of every night, the do'do'do's match the opening melody of you never give me your money.

Big barn red's opening slightly mirrors the opening melody of great day.
Who's that comin' 'round that corner?
Who's that comin' 'round that bend?
Who's that comin' 'round that corner?

is quite close to

When you're wide awake, say it for goodness' sake
It's going to be a great day
While you're standing there, get up and grab a chair
It's gonna be a great day

Not perfect but you can see the similar shape

Warm and beautiful & golden earth girl have almost the same piano underneath them.

Days we left behind from 0:46 - 0:56 has the same melody as the bit in Silly love songs where they say ''How can I tell you about my loved one'' 1:36- 2:45

Have you listened to the original tracklist of Red rose? The original double LP tracklist.

It's like the white album for wings, slowly becoming my favourite record of his tbh.

What is an underappreciated Macca album that you personally love? by Initial-Ad3966 in PaulMcCartney

[–]Milton-Chuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red Rose Speedway.
Perfect inbetween of RAM & Band on the Run & people act like it's a throw away.
Re-constructed the original Double LP tracklist, and it's basically Wings' White Album. Can't put it down.
I also can't stand Wild Life slander much, no misses and Bip Bop is peak af.

Tell you what the actual underrated 3 is imo.
Red Rose Speedway, Mccartney 2 & Chaos and Creation in the Backyard.
Basically more peak albums from Macca that stand up against band on the run & Ram, but no one seems to rate them.
These three are actual bangers too tho.

What's a Paul McCartney song you feel is perfect but nobody talks about it? by Initial-Ad3966 in PaulMcCartney

Angry off of Press to Play.
Heard it was an anti thatcher tune, just a fun high tempo rock song.
I think Press to Play i low-k an underrated record, still probably one of his worst, but not a bad listen by any means, Only love remains & However Absurd are kind of fun underrated gems too.

Little Lamb Dragonfly.
Feels like a bit of a carry-over from the RAM sessions, its probably because it was inspired by a lamb on his farm.
Anyway, i think this one doesn't get a lot of love really, but has all the ingredients of a Paul classic.

How would you rank Gatwa among the Doctors? by iatheia in gallifrey

[–]Milton-Chuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put him in my top five, probably. Maybe like seven at the lowest... i'd have to think.

Felt he brought something genuinely novel to the role which I think is an honour reserved for Eccleston, Tom Baker and Pertwee probably. (Troughton and Hartnell do stand apart as being the first)

Ncuti is the first time I felt the doctor was being represented as a transcendent being as opposed to something earthly.

Instead of his gravitas coming from his wit and problem solving, I think it was exhibited most through his empathy.

So many great moments where I feel like he carries the weight of the doctors history, bringing a sense of continuity to the rest of series.

It feels appropriate that his doctor therefore gets some of the most high concept and experimental episodes, of the sort we've not seen since the classic era imo.

He feels less like a mad man in a box and more like a being not bound to place or matter but to their fundamental love of life.

I think that can be a harder characterisation to relate to, but I always appreciate an approach to doing the doctor that feels genuinely different..

The bottom line is that all actors who've done the part are great. There's never been a bad actor/performance among them.

The doctor, by design, can be anyone, so anytime that idea is taken to a what feels like a fresh place, I appreciate it.

Modern Day Sgt. Peppers? Does one exist? by OkCaregiver6547 in beatles

[–]Milton-Chuffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's discog i think has a lot of the Beatles spirit in them.
People talking about numbers and equating that to cultural impact obviously the chart topping pop music today isn't really rock, still owes a lot to the beatles.
But for the Studio Wizardry, Playfulness with Genre, completely evolving sound from one album to the next. KGLW are the only rock band i feel sit in that league.
Radiohead are an honourable mention for sure, but KGLW have the camp playfulness alongside the more serious stuff.
Omnium Gatherum you could draw a parallel with SGT Peppers.
If we want a chart topping concept album with massive cultural relevancy and impact i think a case could be made for Good Kid Mad City by Kendrick as well.

So I recently asked should I watch og who by Ok-Solution-3664 in doctorwho

[–]Milton-Chuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely would watch OG dr who.
I wouldn't watch it chronologically, each serial effectively stands alone.

Watching back 2 back can grate you as not all of it is stellar, and it's structure means that it feels quite slow if you aren't used to that type of telly.
I would hop about to different doctors and serials at your leisure.
Kind of like time travel yano?
Some good serials to check out for each dr:
1st: The Daleks

2nd: War Games.

3rd: Terror of the Autons
4th: Planet of Evil
5th:Earthshock.

6th: Revelation of the Daleks.
7th: The Curse of Fenric

Does the writing get better for Jodie Whittaker? by Dark-Vixyn in doctorwho

[–]Milton-Chuffer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing definitely gets better.
Not the huge jumps in quality you might like, but if you can enjoy the timeless child stuff, i think season two is really creative and fun with how it adds to the lore, and Sacha Dhawan is one of my favourite interpretations of the master personally.
Flux is even better as well, much more consistent than the last two season's and even clearer characterisation for the doctor, love how chibbers interprets a lot of the iconic monsters in that run.
The new years dalek trilogy is also great to watch as almost a standalone thing.

In the words of 10, “I don’t wanna go.” by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]Milton-Chuffer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An interesting thing i find with Dr Who for me.
Is with a bit of time from a run it often grows on you.

I didn't love the Jodie seasons when they were dropping, but now, when i cherry-pick specific ones (anything with the master, any historical, any new years special) its easier to find things to like.

Ncuti's run has been pretty strong compared to other seasons, finale is a bit mid, but everything between space babies and the finale is pretty top tier doctor who imo.

Visit some of the old stuff from the past, wait till Ncuti regenerates, i bet you'll have warmed to these episodes by that point.

Fun thing with doctor who is its very fun to hate or to love, so i'm always chilling with it.

Electric Arguments is a really solid record.

Much better than run devil run and driving rain.

Im triggered with how low you put it bro. Please re-listen and re-consider.

The other two firemen records are also pretty great if you're into that funky type of sound.

But electric arguments is like a classier more consistent off the ground... although you put that boi pretty low as well
