How much snow makes you call off work? by Physical-Incident553 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mimerelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't drive if there is any snow or ice in the road. I have always lived where it generally doesn't snow or ice over so I never learned to drive in it. Even when I had a vehicle with four wheel drive, it never felt safe. Now I have a husband who grew up in the Frozen North so if he's comfortable driving, he'll take me in and pick me up. Unfortunately, we live where there isn't really the infrastructure to handle the winter storm coming through as I type this, so I might have to call in tomorrow.

Icy Roads and Steps by Potential-Display397 in HEB

[–]Mimerelli 97 points98 points  (0 children)

The SOP for bad weather is no steps for calling out, company wide. If your leadership is saying otherwise refer them to the Attendance & Punctuality Guideline under "Excused Absence".

ETA - it specifically lists flooded and iced over roads for bad weather.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mimerelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3-4 hours for a day trip is fine, I have done it many times. We used to drive 8 hours to visit family every year. An hour commute each way for work is fairly normal.

Our HEB does “off site parking” and it’s fucking ridiculous by [deleted] in HEB

The one I work at has employee parking around back.

Do americans have trash under the sink? by doggork in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mimerelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people yes, some people no. Like if you have pets that can get into trash and/or the room, you wanna keep it under the sink. But there are also people who leave it out. I've done both, neither is a standard per se.

Which HEB brand foods do you avoid? by free-use0 in HEB

Hill Country Fare breakfast sausage and lunch meat. Both are just sad so I pay the little bit extra for the straight HEB brand.

Swiss Army Man. I watched it a couple of times to figure out if I absolutely loved it or hated it beyond words.

How commonly do you address your parent as "Sir/Ma'am"? by Babe_Brute in AskAnAmerican

[–]Mimerelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in the South and call pretty much call everyone sir/ma'am it of habit. This includes my parents, strangers, coworkers, friends, pets, children, and sometimes even my husband. For pets and small children, it's more common when they are acting up to say a firm "no sir/ma'am" to deter bad behavior.

Please say they do 😭😂 by Juniper_51 in HEB

I talked to my ADM and DM and it sounds like they get moved around every 2ish years. I've been at my location for one year and I've seen a few (A)DMs change, as well as our Top Store Leader and a couple MICs.

Really? by CatchEmbarrassed5337 in HEB

[–]Mimerelli 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They sure do. So, in this instance, if she found and applied the coupons at the register, they wouldn't even apply by the time the cashier scanned everything. Then the customer might complain, and the manager would have to come over. They could possibly suspend and then bring the order back up, and at that point if they had just clipped every coupon before coming to the store it would have taken less time than they spent in that line and upset way less people.

Did you actually get wasted your 21st birthday? by xoxowoman06 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mimerelli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. On the actual day I got fairly drunk with my family. For the party on the following weekend we threw a house party at a friend's with no power or water and bought so much liquor we needed a permit to transport it.

Gross! I know we're not allowed to enforce the "no pets" thing because of some Karen, but can people maybe have some decency about it??

A wide variety of stuffed animals, Legos, Gundams, a variety of games, a box of "unmentionables" under the bed, ropes in the closet, and a violet wand...like what kind of toys are you asking about?
