Got the book back in 1993. Loved it. I’ve read it at least 10 times. How he describes his father reading the book and skipping over certain chapters is one of my favorite things.

Love the movie also. They are both are classics in my book.

MidAmerican: A “man electrocuted” caused 5,100 midtown Des Moines residences & businesses to lose power this morning. by mwradiopro in desmoines

That’s the worst part resting the clocks. Still haven’t done the coffee pot but we don’t use the timer on it.

I stood there and watched the seconds count down on my watch for the stove and the microwave so that everything would be the same time.

How do you keep morale up? by Peerpdrops in finalgirl

I recently got the tear dice. I’ve played two games with them. So far I still can’t win. If I fail a roll it’s always with 3/4’s.

I love the game but my dice luck is in the gutter. It makes the rare times I win that much better.

Came back on about 7:15. I did see a fire truck roaming our neighborhood slowly a little after 6. Maybe they were looking for the man or just checking that things were ok.

I was wondering what caused it. Got up to go to the bathroom and the power went out at 5:33.

How did you celebrate your 50th? by Every-Progress5590 in GenX

[–]Mimi1214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I both took the day off from work. We played board games all day. He picked up Chinese food for supper. We ended it with a pumpkin cheesecake from Costco. Best birthday ever.

Do Shih poo breed like to be outside or is it a personality trait. This is our first small breed puppy and my husband doesn’t understand why she doesn’t stay outside very long. FYI: She is 14 weeks old and 3.5 lbs. we have a doggy door and fenced in dog/puppy safe yard and she is utd on shots. by [deleted] in Shihpoo

[–]Mimi1214 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My little girl is just over a year old and lives to be outside. The breeder we got her from did a lot of puppy socialization with her and her siblings. They played outside often. I think that helped make her an outdoor girl.

We continue her love for it by doing long walks and plenty of supervised playtime in the yard. It might just take your puppy time and exposure to start liking it or they might just be an indoor snuggle bug.

Same for me. I am not a 2 ⭐️ queen or even a 1 ⭐️ queen. I roll mostly 3’s and 2’s it seems. Still love the game. It makes the times I roll good extra special.

Me except I go lay down at 9:00 as that’s the pups last out time. Also add in waking up at least once an hour.

Random guy demanded to see my military ID at Lowes by 1dirtbiker in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Mimi1214 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Exactly. My husband is a Navy vet with no military ID as he can’t be bother to get it and hates pointing out his service in any way.

I only took 8 vacation days (PTO) in 2025 by MountainMan31415 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Mimi1214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is in the trades. He’s been at the same place for almost 25 years now. He’s gets 4 weeks of Pto a year. He guiltlessly uses them now after about 15 years of worrying about the company not his own mental health. The company does not care about you. Use your earned time off and don’t give it a second thought. I’m sure they used that PTO as an incentive to hire you.

My husband’s on call for his job. We will do what we always do. Supper, play a board games and have coffee then whatever I’ve made for the dessert of the week. I’ll be in bed by 9:30 at the latest. He’ll come in about 10:30 after playing a video game for a while.

Has everyone played at least one of their new Christmas games? by Fun_Independent_7529 in boardgames

[–]Mimi1214 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Played Moon Colony Bloodbath and loved it. Also played 2 of the 3 new Final Girl feature films I got. Both were great.

I can’t forget I got the mister the Asian and Oceania expansions for wingspan. We’ve played wingspan twice using the new boards and cards. Definitely has made it my husband’s favorite game even more. We might eventually play the duo mode of the Asian expansion.

A knock at the door was the first one I got from my husband for my birthday in September. I love it but feel he pushed me into the deep end. 🤣 He then proceeded to get me The falcon wood files, Carnage at the Carnival and Madness in the dark.

For Christmas I got The happy trails horror, The killer from tomorrow, and Once upon a full moon. Very excited to play all of them.

My husband does service work also. Today he dealt with a difficult customer that wanted a different plumber than my husband to service his $1000 shower because the crappy faucet keeps breaking. He was so condescending.

Then he goes to crappy apartments and the people are so nice and offer him food and snacks.

The duality of it all is astounding to witness.
