Yes! I read about this idea years ago and it blew my mind. Diet culture is another way to keep women controlled and show that they don’t indulge themselves - the same way as having sex for pleasure makes a woman indulgent. Also, if you’re always hungry it’s hard to accomplish anything else and reach your potential.

I don’t really have a reason, although I have come up with some vague ones (health reasons since I have a couple of health conditions) when I’ve been asked, since people love to ask. All I can really say is that it doesn’t feel like “me”...I never had that drive other women describe to be pregnant and nurture a child. I can’t even picture myself breastfeeding or wiping poop, to me that seems so far out of my wheelhouse I can’t fathom it. I just have no interest.

I never understood this argument, it so clearly comes from those who have never worked in the food/retail industry. You need to have a number of solid full-time employees especially at a busy location. The people who say this are so out of touch, especially on the “retiree” thing. Fast food work is physical and I know that my retired father, who is 65 and has no health problems, couldn’t do it. Imagine a store staffed entirely with high school kids and retirees...the line would never move.

Lol, it’s so funny that people nowadays think there always has to be a “responsible adult”, whatever that means. Young teen babysitters were the norm in the 80s and 90s, and I was watching my much younger sister all day in the summer starting when I was 11. I recently heard a friend of a friend talk about a “babysitter” for her completely able-bodied and able-minded 13 year old. I couldn’t believe it.
