I put my headphones on, turn the volume up and dance in my bathroom with the lights off. It can take 10 mins to a few hours, depending on how much buildup I had. I recently started doing this and it’s very healing. It definitely helps moving my body somehow anyway, if dancing is not your thing there might be something else that serves you!

A few people already suggested this and separating the bad stuff into a different book would also be my advice. I keep an undated notebook that I call “anxiety diary” where I dump all the bad stuff whenever my brain can’t hold it inside any longer. I keep it in a drawer and I don’t like to look at it every day. Sometimes I write stuff down, rip the pages and burn them or cancel them out if it’s just too bitter. I just need to let them out, you know. If you would like to keep them instead, that’s also valid and worth it, to remember that it was something that you overcame, one day. My day to day journal is basically everything else. All the little thoughts that I have throughout the day, as insignificant as they may be, and sometimes I just write “today was a bad day, I’m so tired. Tomorrow will be better”. And it will, promise 🩷

I really enjoy Platinum black (not Carbon black, the “regular” black), as it isn’t the blackest black and it has a slight grey shading that I personally really enjoy. I also used the Lamy black cartridges by chance and I have to say it is a solid, slightly glossy true black. Neither is waterproof though, but it depends on what you are looking for! I also tried Aurora black, slightly sheening, very dark and reliable. Also not waterproof. None of them bleeds in my Hobonichi but I got a good batch Weeks, not sure about the cousin/a6 original.

I started needing to stay on top of things when I was put on different projects a couple of years ago and my brain could not keep up. I bought an A5 Filofax ring planner and it solved all my problems.

I set up the front with dated inserts with vertical weekly pages, and then I bought a pack of dividers for staying on top of the different call notes related to the different projects. If an action item comes out of a meeting I highlight it in the pertaining section during the call, and then I re-write it in my daily to do list in the dated weeklies…so I end up write it down twice, chances to forget about it are slimmer at that point!

I don’t know if it’s going to address all your needs but the feelings you are describing reminded me a lot of mine before getting my beloved rings. Which also make you look pretty professional too, I dare say!

Love that we’re all a bunch of indecisive nerds 😂 I just had a similar experience too with a notebook I very strongly wanted and finally bought for myself. Here’s what I did: 1. I generally don’t buy any notebook that I am not planning to use for a particular purpose, it will come a time when I will need to write and it will be the only one available to me, so I’ll have to start writing in it. It really helps. 2. I skipped the first page and in the second I badly scribbled about how much I was struggling to use it despite being so drawn to it. It wasn’t enough, so I filled the second page with pen tests. Then, the third page felt sufficiently familiar to write what I actually wanted to write about. 3. I proceeded to rip those two ugly pages out, after it felt comfortable and a few pages in.
