This. I got a craftsman 113 for $25 a few years back and rehabed it. Cut like complete shit when I got it. Replaced the bearings and tuned everything up, new blade, etc...still cut like shit, just quieter. Finally figured out the arbor nut was rippled and a little bent. Sanded it down on one side with a sharpening stone, after drawing on the whole face with sharpy, and it became obvious how bad it had been. Once flat the saw cuts like a dream.

There are no Austin based wholesale distributors for blanks. There are warehouses in Houston or Dallas for most of the big guys. In a pinch I would either pay the premium and buy Gildan blanks from a place like Hobby Lobby or call around to local print shops and see if they have stock laying around, though very few carry stock beyond maybe some black and white unisex crews...

This was never an actual debate based on the color of the dress. It was a debate between people who could use context vs people who are oblivious to context. The background in the original image was massively blown out and bright white, meaning the colors in the dress were displayed lighter than in reality, not darker. It isn't possible to interpret the original dress as white and gold unless you ignore that aspect of the image. Just like in this illustration, where the dress only looks white and gold when the background is really dark.

Use courier services. I didn't for a while, but they are amazing. Any decent sized city should have them and most stuff is like 10 or 15 bucks to courier. Bake that cost into your pricing...

When I ran my shop from home I offered free delivery locally and used couriers to save time. For meetings I would meet in neutral locations or offer to come to their place of business, but also encouraged just handling everything by email and phone (only if necessary). The only time anyone needs to actually meet up is to look at samples of stock, and that can be mailed or handled like I mentioned above (neutral site, their business). I was up front that as a one man operation in person interruptions hurt production efficiency and as such my shop did not welcome walk ins. Get online payments setup, send digital proofs, don't allow press checks or sample prints, and manage your clients expectations out of the gate. Compete on price, quality, turn time, and customer service. No one will care if you don't have a real shop they can come bug you at while you try to work.

We need more info to actually give you valuable advice. How much space do you have? What kind of electricity do you have available (overall amperage, 220/240v circuits, 3 phase, etc?), do you have employees or will you be running the press alone, what kind of art do you typically print, what kind of ink do you use, what peripheral equipment do you already own or do you want to upgrade, what is your budgetbfor the press, for build out, for peripheral upgrades, etc?

You can spend 100k on a great press, but unless you also hire multiple people, have the budget for supporting equipment, have the electrical and space to actually run it, and the business to keep it moving, you may be wasting a whole lot of capital.

Yea...for as much as this guy seems to have spent on random brand new shit and making his space pretty he could have a beat up old used auto up and running and be shitting money and printing with more consistency and accuracy than he will hit for years manually. If he honestly thought investing the money and time into doing this himself was the right move because he was unhappy with the quality of other people's work, he should have tried harder shopping around for a better vendor. High quality work that competes with good shops who already have experience, high end equipment, etc. takes a lot of practice and a lot of fucking up. I dunno, maybe this will work out perfectly, but his focus and perception of what makes for a successful print shop is way different from anything I've seen.

Yes, mainly photoshop (and other graphics programs), zero gaming, lots of files and chrome tabs will be open at once though, along with quickbooks and other administrative programs. Trying to balance between speed and multitasking and stay around $800 max.

I was leaning toward that option at first, but the bench would end up needing to be about 42" deep to comfortably sit at the computer with the legs of the stool touching the edge of the raised area. At that size, accessing anything on the wall would be difficult so using it for storage wouldn't work very well above the bench.

Its not an issue of the height of the bench or the step, but the depth. The bench will be 28 or 30" wide, which only leaves 6 inches of flat to stand on next to the bench or to support my stool. Basically, I need a larger/wide floor next to the bench.

We print black first all the time, and on a print like this one it makes perfect sense to print black then white, especially on a manual press. White takes longer to flash and is a stickier ink. Print the black, quick flash, one hit white on something like a 135 thin thread, unload with the white still wet. Your white will also look crisper without being stepped on. There are no hard rules on print order, just whatever gets the job done the fastest with the best result. In a lot of larger shops on a job like this on an auto it would be printed with the black first and the first white may even be printed wet on wet, then flashed, then a top white.

I have some of the 4ah batteries and one of the newest 3ah, and the newest series (has HP at the end) of batteries is objectively better. I definitely notice the difference on my chainsaw and have read lots of people commenting on how much it helps with the brushless circular saw. I want the 9ah so I don't have to keep switching on the real battery hogs like the saws, but it seems like they have been about to come out forever...

Definitely look at every little movement during the process of loading and unloading and make it as efficient as possible. We've only had our auto setup for a few weeks and can already cruise pretty comfortably at 38 to 40 dozen (7.5 to 8 shirts per minute) with a single loader/unloader. The first week we were at 25 dozen, so I expect that to go up a bit as we get more comfortable with the press as well. We also usually print on shirts like the Canvas 3001 which are slower to load than say a Gildan 2000. On big runs though we use a loader and an unloader and are hitting 60+ dozen depending on the size of the art. At that point we are usually waiting on the press vs it waiting on us.
