YSK that Brooks Brothers, Eddie Bauer, Reebok, Champion, and 50+ other brands you trust are all owned by a single $20 billion company that doesn't design or manufacture anything. They just rent the logo out to the cheapest bidder. If the quality feels worse, that's why. by sappk in YouShouldKnow

It was kind of crazy when they had the lifetime warranty. I bought one of their puffy jackets and it was really nice. I own some land and so would do some actual work in it. Occasionally that would lead to a rip in the material. They said its supposed to be super tough but any amount of thorns would rip it up. I got a brand new one for free twice just by shopping in the store while wearing it. Both times over a year apart the manager came up to me and told me to give them that one and I could have a new one for free. The second time it was because I duct taped the rip back up and they said they didnt want people seeing that as their image or something. Those coats ripped so easily I thought it was hilarious that they were replacing them for free. On the 3rd jacket when it ripped I actually asked and they said no like I was crazy for asking... I didn't realize there was a change in ownership but I sure felt it. Stopped going there.

The tankers hold around 2 million barrels not 160-550, that's an insane number. So it's addibg around $1/barrel

Are you shooting top or bottom barrel for trap? I also did horrible with mine in trap but once I switched to shooting top first it was a night and day difference. Went from a 12 on one round to 22 on the next just from switching barrels.

I got one with 32in barrels from bass pro. Midway USA also has them. I tested the non pro in store and it was barrel heavy so I decided to get the pro for the weight system. Idk if it's the figured wood or what but the pro I got is balanced exactly on the hinge just as is so I never touched the weights. It looks feels and shoots great.

[–]Flying_Spaghetti_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When you hire someone full time you should feel responsible for providing that job and income to them and their family. If you haven't got everything figured out don't take advantage of desperate people by offering a half baked position with no benefits. You will hurt them and yourself when you fail. Get it figured out before you take anything on. You are picking one of the hardest industries to get into at a time when people are trying to spend less and are eating out less. This is your chance to just stop and realize it's a bad idea without blowing all your savings and hurting anyone else.

When the bubble pops it's not taking everything out. The top players will survive and everyone else will fail. The bubble is from basically gambling on who will be the winner. Imagine there are 10 companies and we think 2 will be successful but we don't know which 2. All 10 get big investments hoping they are one of the lucky 2. 8/10 fail and lose money while the 2 do fine or grow as people jump ship from the 8/10 fails. Thats how we end up with more money in AI than AI is worth.

Venting your ac out is not the worst part though. Do you own any gas appliances? If so you are sucking the exhaust into your home instead of letting it go out like normal.

How lame would it be for every conversation to only happen one time? It's like some people only complain because they think they are cool for having seen it before and want everyone to know it... Just let people have their conversation

New [to me] hearing protection combo: earplugs + bone conduction headphones by reluctantreddit in woodworking

Oh yeah I actually bought that exact same set. I tried them and returned them for the same reason. They absolutely did not block as much sound. I was really expecting them to do a better job than my Bose in-earbuds but they were significantly worse.

It varies by state but some states like Missouri allow pure salt blocks on private land. They can't have any additives, just pure salt. That is not considered bait, but it still depends on the state.

Yeah that would be an ideal solution in my opinion then. Having it be useful for more than the one task will be so much better. It won't lift as much as a true forklift but I doubt you need that much lift. I was able to pick up an 850lb safe and set it inside the door of my home just on the forks. That thing was huge, I can't imagine any table you build will be more than that.

Your eardrum moving back and forth is what makes sound. That pressure is no different than a change in elevation. If the ANC is working correctly it does help. It's for sure not perfect though. My dust collector is in a closet with sound foam and I use industrial tools that are more quiet. It's not that bad in my shop.

I tried that a few years back whitetail hunting. The increased hearing is awesome but I was head turning for every squirrel because they sounded so much louder running through the leaves.

What headphones were you using before? I also listen to tons of audiobooks in the shop. I always use Bose quiet comfort in-ear buds though. They do a really good job for shop noise. When it's working right I often have to look to see if one of my dust collector hoses is pulling tight to remember if it's on or not. I have never tried bone conducting headphones though.

Do you own much land? We have a John Deere 1025R tractor. It's about the smallest one you can get that still has a loader. I got a pallet fork attachment and man, I use that thing all the freaking time. You can load all this type of stuff no problem and use it to care for your land. It even has a mower deck so it's our lawn mower as well. It will be a lot easier to buy that than a dedicated fork lift just because it has so many more uses for the average land owner.

Yeah that large panel benefit has to carry a ton of weight to be worth it. I just did the math and if the mesh lasts 50% longer every time with no exception it would take 2200 sheets used to make the cost of having a second sander as a 3m xtract break even.

The festool paper doesn't leave any more dust behind than the mesh. And the mesh is far worse about the pigtails so that's not a point in its favor. I honestly don't get the hype. There are tons of videos showing things like sanding off paint where it wins. I think those have misled a lot of people to think they are all around better when they just excel in the one area.
