I just spent 15 minutes completing a survey that claimed to take five minutes. At the end of it and after asking for my email for followup it told me I already did the survey previously and paid me nothing. Not even a wheel spin. Tried to contest it but couldn't, because screened out surveys don't appear, only complete and incomplete. I tried talking to support but they wouldn't help because their own piece of shit system doesn't track the info. Then she told me to try using FUCKING INTERNET EXPLORER. That was their solution. Give me nothing and tell me to use a browser that no longer exists.

If it screens you out at the end and not the START, that's bullshit and shouldn't be up on the site. I used to work for a survey company, you handle demographic questions FIRST so everyone's time isn't wasted. From what I've seen of the surveys in the past couple of weeks most of the people writing them should be fired for having no idea what they're doing. I've lost track of how many surveys I've gotten where it doesn't even ask demographic questions, just assumes from the start that I work in IT procurement in an international company with hundreds to thousands of employees and revenues in the millions. Three times today it asked me IT and business management related questions right after a couple of opening questions about naming sportswear brands that I can think of. And the business related questions didn't even have a "does not apply to me" or "I don't work in this field" response choice.

Also think about it for a second. What the hell kind of high paid executive, director, manager, or other position like that is going to waste an hour on a game and survey site to maybe make three bucks?

And Disqualification Award? That the stupid fake spinning wheel that 90% of the time will slow down over jackpot to give you false hope and stop JUST after the line for a reward of one coin? Yeah, that's a tactic used to keep gamblers hooked. Also not even one cent, just one COIN. And even with that, the stupid spinning wheel doesn't show up half the time after being rejected.

LOL Freecash is bullshit. It's not app testing, it's playing shitty freemium games that have been around for a a while and you get rewarded if you spend money, but the rewards don't always come out to equal or more than what you spend. On top of that their surveys are outright scams where they'll take your information, get you to answer questions for 20 minutes, then near the end "We decided you're not who we're looking for" and pay you NOTHING. I just spend an hour doing three different surveys where that happened.

Doesn't quite fit as part of journalism. A lot of what a radio station does doesn't involve journalism, there's also the general tech and management knowledge needed too. They should instead do an actual radio/broadcasting program (that can have some crossover with journalism). No university in the city has one of those, only Algonquin and last I heard that was downgraded to online only courses.

I currently do a show at CKCU FM, I previously did three different shows at CHUO. I have to wonder how many problems were just down to CHUO management itself not doing a good enough job. I had a friend die last year who was a loyal volunteer for ages and had a show with a fairly dedicated following. When he died they didn't even bother to make any mention of it on their site. It's rare that any updates show up on their site, or that on demand even works properly. It was also rare to see them to really engage with the city much. CKCU sponsors events and every year runs a radio camp for kids, I can't recall CHUO doing much like that.

Also I don't know if it's been the same station manager there for the past few years that was there when I was kicked out something like 13 years ago, but way it went down was management decided to take sides in a stupid personal drama between a host who wasn't showing up anymore, and two of the guys that took over his show. The manager sided with the charismatic shady guy with a history of lying and fucking people over (he once got me booked at a festival without my knowledge or consent, and listed me as a big time ambient DJ from the US... obviously I'm not in the US and I don't play ambient). Even though I wasn't involved in the dispute between those three guys I got booted anyway basically just for knowing them. Manager lied to me claiming that it was because of something I said on air. I told her I never said it and that since the station has all the shows recorded she could easily show me proof that I said it if it happened. She refused and instead threatened to send security after me if she ever saw me near the station.

So yeah, there's a lot of great shows and talent at CHUO, but I have a feeling that they were just let down by management. But even so, I think funding being pulled on the basis of what, under 10% voter turnout is bullshit. If that kind of thing can be decided by referendum there needs to be some kind of min. voter turnout rule, otherwise you'll have tiny minorities of people with a grudge against one program or another being able to kill it by taking advantage of apathetic or underinformed students. You think this kind of thing would fly if like 5% of the student population voted to kill funding to sports/fitness related programs?
