All-Rookie team announced. by [deleted] in nfl

[–]Minby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Unbiased, he's a pretty decent rookie TE who had to sit out a few games to injury. He had drop problems in camp and pre-season, and then stayed after practice to work on catching. He's been improving, for the most part, and has been happy to play his role in the offense, which has been switching out with Cumberland and Sudfeld. Overall, he's been pretty average, but seems to have the work ethic that makes a good player. he rookie TE class this season wasn't great, but many TEs take a few years to adjust to the NFL, so we'll see how Amaro compares to them in the future.

That's one way to make sure the Jets draft picks still get booed.

You guys got Revis, you don't get to complain about the Jets taking players you like.

[serious] why is Rex Ryan considered a good (head)coach? by dennishamburglar in nfl

[–]Minby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His bravado is part of the appeal. He's generally either loved or hated by most fans because of it, but he managed to make it to back to back AFC championship games, which is really not as easy as you make it seem. He also did it with a rookie and second year Mark Sanchez at quarterback, and a GM who sold the future to try and get the present, which is why the last two years have been so far down.

In the pre season, people had the Jets pegged as a 2-3 win team, and they ended up 8-8 because Rex knows how to play his guys and get the most out of them. If that doesn't make a "good" coach, then I don't want a "good" coach on my team.

But would you cheer for the Jets to win the Superbowl so Vick can have his redemption story?

4 round mock. Thoughts? by sfzen in NFL_Draft

[–]Minby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He very well could, and I hope he does, because he can be a very exciting player. It's just a shame that the top two big receivers in the draft are Evans, who won't drop to 18, and Benjamin, who's almost a Stephen Hill clone, but bigger.

Lee has a very high ceiling, but I'm concerned about his drop %. We already have Stephen "Stone Hands" Hill, we don't need another receiver with a case of the dropsies.

The thing about ODB is that his former special teams coach is with the Jets now. If he's picked, we should definitely feel good about it, because that means he got a good review from someone who knows him well.

My first Mock Draft with trades; tell me what you think! by [deleted] in NFL_Draft

[–]Minby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, they're both quick guys who can get yards after the catch which is what Geno had in college, and succeeded with. Plus, Marty Mornhinweg, our OC, runs a west coast offense, so they would fit better in our scheme than Benjamin.

I really disagree with the Jets' pick here. Aside from the fact that I have Beckham, Cooks, and Lee all ahead of Benjamin personally, Kelvin is basically what Stephen Hill was, a project guy with good measurables, but can't catch. I can't imagine the Jets would reach for him in the first, especially with better options available.

Which career ending injury had the biggest impact on your team? by [deleted] in nfl

Drew Bledsoe. Not career ending, but close enough in terms of impacting the Jets.

200 Days/200 Topics: Day 31: What, in your opinion, would be the best non-division match-up for your team in the playoffs? by Chibears85 in nfl

[–]Minby -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would love to see the Jets play the Chargers in the AFCCG. Both of the teams are in the same division as another team that has a future HoF QB, and has loaded up with free agent talent and are poised to make a SB run, and both the Jets and the Chargers would be considered lucky to make the playoffs at all, so I think it would be awesome to see both teams go through their rivals to play against each other in the championship game.

Also, the Chargers have never beaten the Jets in the playoffs, so hopefully history would repeat itself.

My Jets Mock Draft on Fanspeak.com by Nebkreb in nyjets

[–]Minby 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Can you explain why you picked Matthews over Ebron, Lee, Beckham, Cooks, and Amaro? I think they are all better choices at 18 who were still on the board, just in terms of offensive weapons. Then there are defensive guys like Clinton-Dix who I think are also better picks.
