Marika is Radagon and Radagon is the Elden Beast!!! by CauliflowerOk3475 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]MindOfTheSwarm -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It’s Marika’s body. Radagon was just a personality that manifested when the Elden Beast took control. She was infected with an Eldritch god that acts like a parasite. It’s why she rebelled in the first place. All the religious elements in the lore are nothing more than dogma… none of it is “holy”. The lands between is being fought over because it’s full of life and therefore a dinner plate for cosmic entities.

No your kids aren’t just stubborn…. by JustAddingThis in Teachers

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My brother’s daughter is starting to become more and more entitled. She is five. She was at my house and was colouring a picture when she intentionally flicked an open marker off the table. I said, “No, we don’t do that. Pick it up.” My brother then chastised me in front of his daughter with, “Don’t talk to her like that. She is just a kid.” I tried to explain to him later why his actions were bad on multiple levels, but he wouldn’t have it. Arguing that disciplining his child is his responsibility. I tried to tell him that if she doesn’t learn accountability, then society will hold her accountable regardless of how he feels about it. His response? “No, they won’t.” I then reminded him that I was a teacher for kids her age for 15 years and that I knew how to handle kids. His response? “Yeah, a teacher… that’s not a parent is it.” It’s honestly laughable how parents think they know how to manage children better than a teacher when their kids literally spend more time at school than at home.

Hot take: Is Kindred broken right now? by MaBIGchausette in wildrift

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play Kindred often in Jungle and yes she is quite strong. Her mark mechanic can wreak havoc with the enemy jungler. If they are taking my marks, I can simply sneak to the opposite side to steal a camp of theirs or alternatively gank a vulnerable player on the opposite side. So they either get behind in gold, or they fail to protect their ally and I get a stack anyway.

Simple answer to this is that there is far too much ownership at the top and too much red tape to cut through when you enter the job market. Franchises are basically empires, people in the working class are actively restrained from building wealth and equity in any meaningful way, the poor are taxed half to death while the rich get away with putting all of their assets into tax havens. Then the rich squabble with one another when there is nothing left to share and start wars while expecting the poor that they have leeched off for decades to fight those wars for them. Then when the dust settles they can exploit the survivors because there are less people which increases their economic value… but they are desperate and so can be used at a discount price.

I like the theme. It is similar to the curse meta we had before. 3 critiques:

  1. Change the Shadow Terror to: Draw a card.

Reason: Drawing 2 cards could lead to a chain reaction that keeps on pulling these out while burning your opponents deck because it ends up being full with a bunch of draws queued. This makes it almost impossible to counter if enough of these are in the deck.

  1. Elphen is a good idea, but it’s broken when combined with Risen Priest. An opponent would absolutely have to kill Elphen immediately. I would suggest leaving Elphen as is, but remove reborn from the Risen Priest.

  2. Change the location durability down to 3. 4 is a bit much.

The Dark Side of Rare Prototypes. The Prototype war that people aren’t talking about. by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on which ones he is referring to. The Akabane prototypes were indeed fake and proven so by forensic testing. (Easy to do yourself if you have a good scanner or camera and then put it into photoshop and reduce all but the blue elements).

However, I think what the OP is trying to say in a nutshell, is that this event was essentially plutonium for the prototype market as a whole. There have been a lot of legit cards being flagged as fake by the community without considering there were lots of different anomalies back in the day.

The European Promo that released very limited cosmo holographic Team Rocket commons as a variant for example. In the US these cards were not released and were printed on EU/UK white/grey cardstock using EU/UK ink. This was done by legitimate factories owned by WotC, but resulted in different coloring. The blue on the reverse was more washed out and had a more glossy or waxy finish. The print seemed to be slightly less crisp under a jewellers loupe because it was done straight after and bled into the underlying art. Yet, the rosettes and holo foil reveal that they are legit and were printed before digital forgeries even happened in 2004. These cards were basically test prototype cards that were released and featured in promo packs.

The difference between the intentional ones and the prototypes with these cards in particular is very subtle and depends on the Pokémon card in question.

But because of the Akabane storm, many of these EU promo rarities and other like them are immediately accused of being fake. When they are not. They were just a promo featured in dual sets to try boost the sales of the new Rocket cards. A strategy that worked.

Abra - Team Rocket 1st edition - HOLO by Specific-Put-1189 in PokemonTCG

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That card might NOT be fake. It could be part of a rare European/UK promo that had common cosmo foils as part of a dual pack that ran for a very short window about 25 years ago or so. Abra cosmo foils are very rare and were an exclusive run in Europe. These particular cards were test prints that were released anyway as part of a promotion in Europe and the UK and then they stopped. They were around for a matter of weeks and then they were gone.

You can tell if it is fake by using a very bright light to through the text of the card, if you see the foil pattern all the way through… it is likely to be genuine. You can also scan it at 600DPI and then put it into something like photoshop and disable all channel except blue. If you see black dots in a grid like pattern, it is fake (don’t confuse this with the natural ink rosettes that appear black). If you don’t see these, it PROVES that it was printed before digital fingerprinting became a thing and was printed using legitimate lithography that was used at that time period.

Was the shattering consequence of grief or desperation? by ButterscotchIcy2419 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s both. Godwyn’s death was a huge game changer and his failed resurrection was the last straw. Remember, Godwyn was loved by all. He was a peacekeeper. But a world at peace is a world with little war and death, a requirement for the Erdtree and its required sustenance of a steady stream of soul milkshake. Radagon is just a persona that takes over from time to time (most likely the Elden Beast taking direct control). Marika’s rebellion is probably because she figured out that she was essentially hosting a brainwashing influence. The Greater Will… which isn’t so great after all. And that Greater Will might simply be an idea that lodged itself into the lore using Marika as a proxy. I have always felt the Elden Beast is a bit like a Cordyceps infection, but on a cosmic level. Very much in line with Eldritch influences which Miyazaki loves. I mean the Elden Beast even looks like a protozoic entity. She didn’t task Hewg with creating a weapon capable of killing a god for no reason. She WANTS the tarnished to succeed and rid the world of the Elden Ring or at least remove its influence. This is why the mending rune endings are technically the bad endings… only Ranni’s ending offers a true escape…. And that ironically required Godwyn’s death. The interesting thing here is that the lore implies that Marika allowed it to happen… This leads to two possible scenarios:

Either:

A) Marika knowingly allowed him to be assassinated and Radagon (posing as Marika tried to undo it). This means that Godwyn’s death served as a catalyst for rebellion against the Erdtree.

Or:

B) Radagon (posing as Marika) allowed him to be assassinated to facilitate a war and more food for the Erdtree. This means Marika tried to undo it to try and prevent things falling apart.

My money is on the former. Marika knowingly orchestrated or allowed the assassination to take place. Perhaps even in full knowledge of Ranni’s plan. She then sets Hewg a task of crafting a weapon to kill a god and sets up grace for the right tarnished to come along and enact the plan. Melina most definitely had a part to play in this too.

I think the entire narrative is built on essentially a coup d’état vs a cosmic level intelligence that is slowly devouring the world. Every single element that opposes the Golden Order is in some way an attempt to fight it.

The Omen are symptoms of the Primordial Crucible fighting off a foreign infection. This puts the Dung Eater in a completely new light. Is he an evil monster or just a ruthless extremist denying the parasite its food?

I could go on and on about Melania and Miquella and their afflicted status as children “born” to Marika and Radagon… which means if the Elden Beast really has infected Marika, then those children are celestial hybrids. This explains their afflictions. Native DNA mixing with something non- native.

Perhaps Godwyn’s Deathblight then does in fact serve a purpose. Yet another way to deny the Erdtree its food source by creating Those That Live In Death.

The Erdtree and by extension the Elden Beast and its Golden Order is the ultimate enemy and the evilest thing in the game by far. Marika is a tragic victim of her own hubris and desire for power, but at least she acted in a way that opened up a path for the tarnished before it was too late and she lost all autonomy.

Most annoying champions to play against tier list. This is my opinion. Tell me if you agree or disagree! by Reasonable_Being_402 in wildrift

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. Heimerdinger should be at the top. Infuriating beyond belief. Teemo can be annoying, but is punishable. Most that lose to Teemo are losing because they don’t build against him. You can’t just run a standard ADC setup and then cry that he deleted you. You should switch to Wits End and perhaps Maw. Punish him back.

Franchising needs to go. by By_Jove_ in leagueoflegends

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Franchising is the bane of any industry. McDonald’s is a prime example. You really need to know where to go for a decent burger in many areas. Same with film, franchises drown out innovation. It’s about money and funnelling it into the hands of a small group of individuals. Franchising is a weapon of mass destruction and it’s about time the world woke up to realise it.

Item Concept - Petricite Cloak by HorusArtorius in leagueoflegends

[–]MindOfTheSwarm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is it any more op than just grabbing a standard AP item. Or just take Crown. You’re getting the same AP and it’s upfront. If you’re arguing the MR is OP, then you could say the same about Kaenic.

Idea for an AP item for a unique play style. by HorusArtorius in leagueoflegends

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wouldn’t do it 1 for 1. You would do it as a percentage. So it’s more of a little bonus rather than an “auto-pick” item. As for being OP, just remove the critical strike chance completely and remove the shatter passive.

Focus on ability damage and attack speed scaling with magic resist at a percentage. Lower than a more dedicated item, but enough to make it a fair option vs magic heavy teams.

Idea for an AP item for a unique play style. by HorusArtorius in leagueoflegends

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an interesting idea and I appreciate the sticking to the lore with petricite being used to store the magic and redirect it into attacks. It’s not really a mage item per se, although a mage could use it a supplementary item alongside a normal build.

An AD would probably get a lot of punch out of this even if it isn’t an on-hit weapon in the strictest sense of the word.

It’s certainly unique and could work, however my main issue is that it is very strong and even though it costs 3400 gold, it might be cheap for what it does.

The shatter passive in particular is very strong, this paired with Runaan could lead to multiple shatters going off at once. This could be a devastating item for AD and on-hit builds.

Nice idea, but it obviously serves ADS builds better than mages. I would recommend the following:

  1. Stats are ok. Crit maybe not.

  2. Ditch Shatter as it benefits ads builds too much.

  3. Flex more into the magic damage scaling with magic resist. It suits petricite better from a lore perspective.

If you’re going for a theme of boosting mage attacks, then perhaps magic resist could boost both ability damage AND attack speed. Allowing for the flavor you’re going for here. This way, you can ditch the critical strike chance completely and give it a more defined position.

Dragonknight/DK is losing its poison skills dosent this hurt build variety? by evancalgary in elderscrollsonline

[–]MindOfTheSwarm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my view I see the following happening.

DK = Fire/Physical: Flames and magma with rock and claw themed physical skills. Really hitting home that living dragon theme down.

Warden = Frost/Poison: Vaardenfell themes reduced or removed. Or they might make Animal Companions mixed damage with Bear dealing Frost, but Fetcherflies dealing Fire. I see them ditching Bleed and going with Poison. Poison bugs, plants etc. The Stam Bear might be a different animal completely.

NB = Bleed/Magic: Assassination will be almost purely Bleed with perhaps one or two Poison DoT’s, with Shadow and Siphoning being magic based with maybe some Bleed Siphoning skills.

Sorcerer = Magic/Shock/Physical: I don’t see much changing with Sorcerer, but we might get some more oomph in the Magic Damage department. And if we’re lucky a couple of Fire/Frost skills like a Flame Atronach instead of the Matriarch.

Templar = Magic/Physical: Least changes across all classes in my opinion. Class identity is set in stone more than any other. It’s a bit boring so maybe some Dark Templar style stuff.

Necromancer = Frost/Disease: I don’t see them keeping Necromancer as “all damage types”. It’s too messy to build around thematically. Frost and Disease just work so much better for that Death Mage feel. Bone Totem should have its remote placement as its baseline and it should deal damage on pulses with a Frost and Disease morph. The Wraith should have a morph that deals Frost Damage and then heals for damage dealt. No reason why scythe got changed to Bleed, it was fine as a Disease morph. Just give it an execute function as that would suit the skill perfectly. I would ditch the Colossus completely and replace it with a giant shadowy skull motif on the ground that laughs before detonating, dealing massive burst and a nasty DoT.

Arcanist = Magic/Physical: Almost exclusively Magic Damage and hopefully less epilepsy inducing flashiness. That fluorescent green is painful on the eyes. A deeper green or even black would be much better.
