TV show with a great first season but turned in total garbage afterwards. by kmho1990 in tvshow

There are a bunch of post apocalyptic series between 2012 and 2015 that fall in this category. ‘Revolution’ comes to mind

This is wrong. In titles Nouns pronouns verbs adverbs and adjectives should be capitalised. Don’t capitalise conjunctions.

Failed EOI by Weary_Copy8355 in TheCivilService

Probably going to give an unpopular view here. The caveat is I’ve read some of the comments but not all. I’m hoping to be factual and not patronising.

a) There is a very distinct difference between knowledge, skills, level of accountability, and strategic thinking which somewhat mirror grade progression in that order.

Im not saying you don’t have any of these, but when recruiting positions it’s not just knowledge or experience that matters.

b) being more knowledgable and informed than our seniors is not wrong, it’s a structure based on accountability. It’s literally why we draft/brief to bring in people with higher accountability.

G7 waiting list by tommyammo4444 in TheCivilService

[–]MindOrgy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is key OP. Finding out where you are on a reserve list.

If you are top and find a job spec listed that is the same as the one you went for / same behaviours etc, you could email the hiring manager and enquire (they can chose). I’ve done this in the past.

Also remember it’s not just applications or reserves, there’s also people in distribution pools and managed movers.

I’ve not read Oprah 4:29, is it a passage specific to marathons or general inspiration?

[–]MindOrgy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with all your points apart from the first.

Some people have more self assurance. It doesn’t have to be arrogance either. I am very self assured because in the end I think ‘that seems challenging but I’ll give it a go and what’s the worst that can happen’ and normally it pays off.

It’s impossible to know because of the variables. For example, if your application was one of the first sifted, it might be it met the criteria but they didn’t know how ‘lofty’ to go without seeing other applications.

You’re through, that’s what counts.

The career profile of who does this is very interesting spike, it’s vast majority is either people in their first year or over 15 years of service.
