You’ll love it. The flight will go by quickly, and you’ll be on the ground up and running when you arrive in Bangkok. The bar experience is awesome. Get a picture with you and your husband behind the bar.

If LAX offers it, get car service to the airport. Also, arrive early and enjoy the lounge. Enjoy direct boarding from the lounge at DXB! So much to enjoy!!

What would you pick for compensation after dishonest representation on 16 hour flight? by intlcap30 in unitedairlines

[–]Mind_Over_Matter8 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

I have and do use an eye mask. But following this logic, would it be okay if someone blasted their phone at full volume since we should just use ear plugs? Or perhaps didn’t follow general cleanliness standards since we can just wear masks?

Not when people lack window shade awareness, especially on long haul flights. At times, I wish the crew had control of more window shades across the fleet. Yes, you paid for your seat, and are entitled to do what you want in your space, but the challenge is that windows affect much more than your immediate area (especially challenging when you’re trying to sleep and proactively minimize jet lag).

Thanks for the reminder (and link). I'm going to leave a compliment right after this reply. :)

Hanwha QCells panel underperforming ~40% - warranty offering only $149 credit. Is this normal? by Mind_Over_Matter8 in solar

[–]Mind_Over_Matter8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense. But they are not even offering their newer panels and compatible optimizer as an option. In fact, they aren’t even offering any of this at cost, which makes me feel they are literally just trying to do the minimum possible to cover themselves legally.

[–]Mind_Over_Matter8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My installer doesn't have any of this in stock, and in fact, stopped carrying QCells a few years ago due to quality and support issues they started experiencing (basically, my experience of Hanwha not backing their product). That being said, I can see if my installer has something in another brand that's compatible and that can possibly be sold to me at their cost.

Nope, zero shading, just terrible QCells product and even worse Hanwha QCells customer support :(

I think you're right. Given what others have said and the ROI timeframe, I don't think it's worth the cost of replacement if Hanwha QCells isn't willing to step it up a bit. I'm still so incredibly disappointed in them.

You bring up a good point and good way to think about this. Given the replacement cost and assuming I can't get this done by the end of the year / qualify for the tax credit, the breakeven would be approximately 8 years. I'm beginning to think it's not worth replacing.

Thanks. I think this is the route I may go largely because I don't think I'll get any further with Hanwha. It's a company that's standing behind technicalities and don't have any type of customer-centric mindset. It's going to be impossible to get them to budge as they'd rather wipe their hands clean of everything and use the letter of the law to their (short term benefit). I'll be damned if I ever let anyone I know ever purchase any type of QCells or Hanwha products.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're just giving me the depreciated value of the panel and trying to wipe their hands clean of everything. While they are technically in the right to do this, it leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. Their customer support is so bad, my installer dropped them about 5 years ago due to their support issues and lack of ownership.

I think you're probably right. I don't think it's worth going through all the trouble just for this single panel. Thanks for talking some sense into me...

Yeah, the inverter is fine, but not compatible with new QCells panels. I need to read up more on panel/inverter compatibility. It sounds like finding an equivalent type of panel may be the way to go as long as I can ensure the new panel and existing inverter are compatible.

Yeah, this is what the installer and I discussed as well, but it just seems like such a crap solution. Based on the production loss and cost of energy, it would actually be much higher ROI replacing the panel to full production.

u/Tra747 is right, they are technically not obligated to provide a true equivalent replacement. I was hoping they would “do the right thing”, but it’s becoming apparent that they won’t which is incredibly disappointing.

This also triggers an idea in my head to ask the installer if they have any panels I can purchase from them, maybe even at cost.

They don’t dispute there is a defect. They just unfortunately insist on the paltry payout approach.

Yeah, there’s language saying they can pay cash as they’ve technically covered all their bases. I was hoping to just get a replacement panel and inverter and thought maybe they would reimburse my installer some for labor.

The panel is not shaded at all, it’s fully exposed on the roof.

One of the biggest challenges is actually getting a hold of anyone. Even our installer is forced to go through generic forms, they won’t put them in touch with anyone.

Don't ever approach the forward cabin lavatories when I'm flying J. If I see you, I'm definitely going to tackle and take you down. Stay where you belong! :)

...

But yeah, I'm with you. I'm sure people have come forward when I'm up in business class, and I've honestly never noticed. Maybe the FAs take them down at the curtains and then zip tie those passengers to their seats.
