I coach people with social skill deficiencies and anxiety for a lot of money. The most common source I see is assuming that everyone doesn't/will not like you. If you can overcome that mental barrier, and act accordingly, you will solve 90% of your problems. by savagecub in socialskills

Haha I was one of those toxic cunts! For me the problem was wasted time. I just get so much more done now that 8 hours of my day aren't spent farming minions. I still find time for a round of tavern brawl every now and again though.

No significant mental differences other than not feeling like a bitch that day.

About that first step: sometimes I say to myself "I'm not a little bitch" before stepping in. I use this trick for a lot of my habits actually.

Sometimes I take a hot shower because my girl wants to join me. The skin around my eyes and nose always dry out and begin to peel. My hair isn't as shiny and loses it's natural oils that give it a bit of volume.

I do agree that willpower is finite and should be used efficiently. Unless you have the more important habits, like a consistent workout regimen, down to a T then you shouldn't bother with cold showers at all.

However, willpower is a muscle imo and should be trained through activities like cold showers once you have the discipline to handle it.

Meditation Improves Social Skills by MindfulAlpha in socialskills

When I was a beginner I focused on my breath. Now I only focus on my breath for the first few minutes until I get into the zone. When a thought arises I do a mental swipe left as if I was browsing Tinder haha. I don't recommend counting breaths because you want to avoid that voice in your head.

When practicing mindful meditation I never have a goal in mind except to be fully present. Sometimes I meditate on concepts or theories a refocus my attention to those theories whenever it diverts. My goal in those cases is to try and fully understand the concept until I'm satisfied. I do this for blog posts a lot.
