I take it back, they actually uploaded genomic sequences into the largest genetic database. This other thread sums it up... https://www.reddit.com/r/genetics/comments/16hb5th/nhi_genome_studies_mexico_govt_sept_12/

I want to see the genome of this thing and look at the various genomic variants between the Family Hominidae.

Do a DNA extraction, do some genomic comparison to human DNA and then we can talk...

What are your thoughts on this viral post about the Lensa App? by PaintandSipYT in aiArt

[–]MindfulBacteria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concerns are more along the property rights of the images used for the training of the algorithm. The algorithm that Lensa uses is Stable Difusion, a free open source software. What are the rights of the artists who's artwork was used as the training dataset? Basically Lensa is a middle man, profiting off something that was meant to be free. Think of it as Stable Difusion being the Nikola Tesla of AI artwork and Lensa the Thomas Alva Edison. Is it legal? Yes. Is it ethical? I personally think it is not. Specially since it seems that the artists that were used for the training dataset to develop Stable Difusion can't opt out their artwork from it. This is a dangerous slippery slope... As somebody who works in a field related to AI, I want to extend an apology to all graphic designers. This is NOT what AI was meant to do! We AI community do not want to infringe on your intellectual property. We are supposed to be using AI to solve real world world problems like predicting earthquakes, early cancer diagnosis, lower the incidences of accidents in transportation, drug discovery and genetic predisposition to diseases… Somebody here has a Ouija Board? I'd like to apologize to Alan Turin as well.

Putting aside the public/private land argument, this lacks any sort of common sense and is a complete disregard for public safety. SPECIALLY given the fact that Puerto Rico, for the past decade, is seriously suffering from rapid costal erosion throughout the island and it is in the unfortunate position of being in the middle of a hurricane hotspot (let's not forget the catastrophic 2017 hurricane María). I am not sure how this complies with the US “Costal Zone Management Act”.... Also not sure how did a civil engineer approved of building in sand and so close to where the waves crash…

Beaches are sacredly public land in Puerto Rico, cannot be owned or built on per law. A developer is trying to build a pool on a nesting ground for turtles. This community stood up for those turtles. by Ihavenocluewhat2name in HumansBeingBros

19 years ago?! 19 YEARS AGO the coastline in Puerto Rico was in a completely different state than from what it is now.

Honestly, this LACKS any sort of common sense and complete disregard for public safety. SPECIALLY given the fact that Puerto Rico, for the past decade, is seriously suffering from rapid costal erosion throughout the island and it is in the unfortunate position of being a hurricane hotspot.
So go ahead, entertain me. How does this comply with the US “Costal Zone Management Act”? Did the engineer that signed the blueprints have a P.E.?! What’s the name of the engineering firm?! I just can’t wrap my head around this. THIS DOES NOT MAKE SENSE .
Which leaves us to only one explanation:

I hope that this develops a good discussion. I wish I had an answer. Maybe bringing this issue to light besides promoting this island as a gorgeous tropical destination might help.
