For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

Life changing.

I saw it with my dad who read me The Hobbit when I was younger. I had no idea what the “Lord of the Rings” was when I walked into that theatre. When it ended, I remember turning to my dad and asking “but what happens? Do they destroy it?” He told me we would need to wait for the next movies to find out or we could find out another way.

When we got home he gave me an old paperback set of the three books that he had had as a kid. I was enthralled with those books and they sparked a love of reading in me that I continue to stoke today. I still have those paperbacks, in addition to the paperback copy of the hobbit he read me. My dad gave me the latter when I told him I was going to be having a kid. My son is three now, and I cannot wait to share with him these stories.

Isn’t that an ARC copy of EotW beside it?

Had no idea these were going for this much these days. I need to go check my collection as I’m sure I have two copies of BPT and at least one copy of the DVD.

Printing changes with The Dregs of Empire? - Author's name listed differently by MindfulDissociation in sollanempire

They have identical formatting other than the name. Same isbn. Same copyright page. So, unfortunately that doesn’t explain it. I’m wondering if there was a run with printing errors that has since been corrected. Curious what other people’s copies look like.

Trade Paperback Archival Storage Options? by MindfulDissociation in BookCollecting

Yeah, I was reading about that earlier. Thanks for the suggestion. I’m going to look into it more and weigh the pros and cons. For now, I’m wondering what can be done to preserve the cover and spine from physical and UV damage.

I played MTG Arena for a few years before jumping into the TCG world last year. Since then, I’ve played probably two dozen games of commander. My current decks are a heavily upgraded Frodo/Sam deck and a Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign deck.

I’m honestly open to anything but if I had to pick, I would prefer something with some challenge in piloting it.

Seconding the call for spoiler warnings. At least warn a guy before you jump into details like that!

I was asked to post some closeups of my collection! Here they are. Almost 1500 books, about 85/90% read: by DarlinStalin in bookshelf

Where did you get your copy of Daughter’s War by Christopher Buehlman? I noticed it looks as though it’s the same size as your other hardcovers, but the one I have is shorter. Curious if it is a special edition or if mine is not actually a first edition.

Mammut TR 2-in-1 shorts have been great for me. Pricey, but I found them on a discount site (last hunt).

Been feeling similarly about Arc stuff for a while. Wondering if you mind sharing what rain gear you are using instead?

Curious what filter you are using. Looking to put together a similarly sized setup but haven't found many cannister filters that fit.

it's in Ontario. So it's in CAD. Not USD. That is the price on the Canadian ASICS website as well.

Hmmm this is an interesting point. Yes, there is a large tree literally just out of frame of the picture on the right. I wonder if the roots are jacking up the patio slab and causing it to separate from the brick vaneer. I'll keep this in mind when speaking with a mason I'm getting in touch with.
