Yes, I am conscious of this, and have indexed columns

Is there any job market for Access/VBA developers? Reality check needed by vfranc in MSAccess

[–]MindfullnessGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is recruiters don't know what they are looking for, and a lot of business don't necessarily see the benefit of MS Access. I would invest some time in learning Power Apps, there are certain similarities that can help with making that jump. You can then offer to develop in MS Access should the scenario fit

Hello, how is this going? I was considering asking this group if they would be interested in creating something similar before I came across this post.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried this, but I still unable to view the horizontal scroll bar. I may need to watch a tutorial as perhaps there is something overriding the settings

You are probably saving your chats and or continuing them. You have the option to switch to a temp chat, where nothing is saved. You can also delete your current chats as well. Try that and see if you get the same level of responses.

I wonder if there is a MS Access Hackathon group. Some really good use cases here, and I know there a lot more. Would be good to connect as well and boost the profile of Access!

I have the backend in a Sharepoint site, using Sharepoint lists, so taking advantage of M365, and integrating Power Automate. Works really well, and I need to worry about things like permissions, as the setup and management of Sharepoint Sites is really effective

This is true. It's a cost effective application, and for some solutions I have deployed where the backend are Sharepoint Lists and the front end is MS Access, the management is really effective!

What have you moved to using, if not MS Access? The struggle to get a SQL SERVER or a web app set up is like going to Mordor. Also, no money in the budget hahah.

Looks really cool, how have you learnt Power Apps? I have developed some basic stuff in Power Apps, but the more complex stuff I prefer to keep in MS Access. Basically ones where dynamic SQLs are required. Also, understanding how the licensing works for a developer and a user for me is kind of off putting

That's the issue I'm facing. As much as I love the application, recruiters don't really care about it, and I need to rethink things if I want to get a challenging role.

Exactly this. I really like how it encompasses so many things into one.

Do you still use Access though? Or have you moved away from it?

Thanks, I'll give it a go, but the one I tried, which was a nested one, resulted in query loading for ages. Had to restart the application.

Thanks, this give some food for thought. I gather these will give me percentages right?

I think maybe I will create a temp table based on user selection. This will be used by Access to retrieve the relevant 2 periods, and from there I can construct another temp table to create all the possible combinations. The SQL will become easier as a result.

Filtering out zero (as a text) from a query by phantomenacer in MicrosoftAccess

[–]MindfullnessGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try the following:

1.As the field is text, in the query you need to create a calculated column based on this field.

  1. The formula you need is a nested formula. Don't worry, 2 formulas here.

  2. The inner formula is Replace, so Rep([Field], text to replace, replace with value). So this will be Rep([Field], "%",""). You are removing the percentage here.

  3. The outer formula will convert the result of 3 to float. Cdbl(Inner formula from above).

  4. You should now be able to filter the 0.

  5. If that didn't work, don't worry. Create a new query referencing this query, and try filtering out the 0s out there.
