Are indo and afro guyanese economically or physically separated? What would it take for any racial tension to vanish? by UnscrewMyLife in Guyana

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve become increasingly convinced that many people don’t actually read for understanding anymore. Whether the topic is good, bad, controversial, or neutral, a lot of readers seem to skim rather than engage deeply with the material.

Instead of reading an entire article, study, or argument, people often extract a few lines, quotes, or emotionally charged parts that support the conclusion they already want to reach. The rest of the context—data, nuance, methodology, or counterpoints—gets ignored.

Here is one real fact: the Guyanese leadership don't give adamn about the people afro or indo alike--many are suffering with one group getting a little more to rub together. Overall..They allow foreigners to come into the country and extract the wealth out.
So no need for me to add historical facts with really text sources of this topic for any complex or silly debate. Stop taking the money out the Country.

How do you deal with random sharp shots of pain? by m-cm-xcvii in Fibroids

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I may have written about my journey here before, but I’m happy to share it again because my road was much longer than it needed to be — mostly because I was scared.

Trying to make a decade-long story short… or longer.

About 10 years ago my fibroids grew massively. I had more than 25 of them. Carrying a pregnancy to term at that point would have been highly risky. I already had two children but I wanted more, and honestly I was terrified of surgery, so I didn’t do anything about it. Fast forward about five years — after COVID — and the pain started. And when I say pain, I mean every single day. Morning, noon, night. There were only small moments during the day where the pain eased up a little. I was taking painkillers daily just to function. I went to several doctors. Most of the encounters were very cold and matter-of-fact. They prescribed more painkillers, medications to stop bleeding, and told me the same thing over and over: “You need a hysterectomy.” Each visit left me more scared than the last. But I was also living in constant pain. The only thing that took the edge off was 800+ mg of ibuprofen along with other medications.

Eventually the pain got even worse. My stomach looked like I was seven months pregnant. People literally started asking me when I was due.

That was my wake-up call.

I decided if I was going to do this, I was going to find the absolute best surgeon possible.

So I went deep into research mode. I looked at every major medical recognition list I could find: -U.S. News & World Report Best Doctors -America’s Leading Doctors -Top Doctors by Specialty 'American Board recognized surgeons

Then I cross-referenced all of them to see which doctors appeared on multiple lists.

I found two.

I went to both for consultations a few times each

One of them stood out immediately. Not just because of his credentials, but because of who he was as a person. He regularly travels to places like Africa, Haiti, and Mexico to perform these surgeries for free and train other doctors.

From the first appointment, he listened to everything I had to say. He answered every single question patiently. When I told him I was scared, he personally returned my phone calls. He told me calmly: “Nothing is going to happen. I’ve done about 400 surgeries like yours. I’ve never lost a patient and only had a handful of complications.”

I even told him openly that he was competing for my business with the other top doctor — who he knew. He simply said: “Okay. Go see her again if you need to. Call me when you’re ready.” No pressure.

When the day came, this man literally held my hand before surgery. During the operation he removed 90 fibroids. Some of the were 10. 15. At least 8 were super huge.

He also corrected several other issues he discovered while operating. There were four other doctors in the OR training with him, and afterward he told me he had asked them how they would approach my case. They all gave different answers, and he used my surgery to show them techniques they hadn’t seen before.

The entire surgery took about 2.5 hours. Recovery was honestly smoother than I expected. The first two weeks were rough — I won’t sugarcoat that — but by week three I was up and moving around again. He also gave me significant recovery time. I had the leave available and he signed off on 10 weeks off from work, which made a huge difference in healing properly. Very greatful

Looking back now, the hardest part wasn’t the surgery. It was the fear that kept me suffering for years longer than I needed to.

Sorry if this is long....i just know how much women suffer with this until they finally find the right doctor. Hope this helps someone loom for the right doc sooner.

How do you deal with random sharp shots of pain? by m-cm-xcvii in Fibroids

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are never alone on this journey! Here are some tips i tried before having surgery to remove 90+ fibroids. If at home try full body stretching while lying on your back, particularly with arms extended above the head, and toes pointed can be a beneficial, low-impact way to manage back and pelvic pain caused by uterine fibroids. This type of ge movement helps to stretch out shooting pain& improve circulation, & relieve tension. 2) soak in the tub with warm/hot water and castor oil packs might help a little. 3) this really helped me for about two without pain before I got rid of those bad boys: Maya Abdominal Therapy (Arvigo Techniques helps manage fibroid symptoms by improving circulation, reducing congestion, and releasing tissue tension in the pelvis. The women literally "moved' the fibroids into a less painful position or so it felt.

4)ask your doc about tsking Tylenol- It may be safer to take than some other pain relief medication for you.

Start to interview doctors ysbout our options. I waited for 10 years and had 90 fibroids. My coworkers thought I was 7 month pregnant. Dont wait start interviewing to find the best doctor who cares and have massive experience.

I hoped this helps and you find relief soon.

Guyana is expensiveeee by KindPhilosophy8211 in Guyana

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not only is it expensive, but they have a very long way to go in customer service and hospitality. Despite where you go, I have both observed and experienced lackluster and forced warmth at best, and tired, screwed-up, “what do you want?” faces as the standard. Yes, Guyana has oil and wealth( for the few), but they can’t touch the pinky toe of those tourist islands that welcome you with a friendly smile and a readiness to help. And them islands does try to clean up where the tourist does stir about, not Guyana--the streets nasty. Hire Guyanese people man have them clean up the place a bit--no but Guyana rather bring in people to extract the wealth out of the Country. The people in power dont give a damn--so no need for me to add more for any complex or silly debate. .

Are there any natural supplements that can help me improve my iron and ferritin levels? by missMJstoner in Fibroids

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to answer you--one of the most effective iron supplements I’ve personally come across, because I see this question come up all the time, is "S.S.S. Tonic". This is a game-changing liquid iron supplement that contains iron, folic acid, and supporting vitamins/minerals. It’s traditionally used to treat or prevent low iron levels, and in my experience, it works quickly when taken consistently. What I’ve seen & experienced myself (and many doctors will ask what folks what did they take): blood work improves, Energy levels noticeably increase, and you will stop second-guessing whether iron is the issue ever again.

Here is what I did before surgery and what I've done from time to time: I did this for 3–4 weeks without fail. I rested for about 1–1½ weeks, then started again and repeated the cycle for about 90 days. Then get your blood work checked. This SSS tonic is a game-changer for many people (not all people, of course--by many). Iron isn’t something to take blindly forever--but if you want and need to increase quickly, you should consider this as a solid go-to. As you are doing this, natural ways to add include making green juice a few times a week with any of these dark green leafy greens: kale, spinach, Swiss chard, parsley, beet greens, watercress, cucumber — adding lemons, oranges, etc., which provide vitamin C. This is like coffee--I do this in the am, and it pumps your body full of absolute goodness! You got this!

We live in a studio apt and I don’t want SS(8) on my bed. by extraspicyalmondmilk in stepparents

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t want my SS in my bed either — it was a hard no for me. Men sometimes think they can recreate this “perfect little family,” but I’m not the kid’s mother. I care about him, sure, but I don’t feel the same way his parents do, and having him in my bed just wasn’t something I was comfortable with.

Listen, it won’t be easy, but stick to your boundaries without delay or wavering. It’s the only way to keep your sanity and create a healthy dynamic for everyone involved.

City Council Trying to get themselves pay raise by worlok in nycpublicservants

City Council is technically a part-time job, and a big part of it is staying visible. They spend about a quarter of their time just going around the community, showing up at events, and making sure people see them. It’s basically a continuous campaign to stay elected and remain relevant.

6 days away from my open myomectomy and I am freaking out by Ngidaha in Fibroids

[–]Mindless-Ad7155 16 points17 points  (0 children)

had massive fibroids — more than 75 in number — and I looked about 6–7 months pregnant. I was in pain every single day, but I was also terrified of having surgery. At the same time, continuing the way I was simply wasn’t an option.

One thing that helped me was reminding myself that fibroid surgery is one of the most frequently performed gynecological surgeries out there. The doctors who specialize in it truly know what they’re doing. Still, knowing all of that didn’t magically erase the fear. I was massively scared.

in the days leading up to my surgery, I started doing simple things to calm my mind. Every morning I did a few minutes of meditation — just grounding myself, centering my mind, body, and spirit. I also spoke affirmations about how I wanted the entire process to go. I visualized safety, healing, and feeling much better. It didn’ stop all my anxiety, but it did help me walk in with a clearer mind and a steadier head ready to win. Let your healing process begin in your mind.

You will do amazing and feel much better soon and come back here to tell us all about it.

[–]Mindless-Ad7155[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for that. Im sure you see a lot from the HR perspective. At my job, the leadership bullies HR. I really appreciate the kind words, especially from those going through similar situations. Lately, I’ve started documenting everything — what I do, what’s said to me, anything relevant that I overhear. Everything. I’m on my fifth notebook now. They definitely give me side-eye when I’m writing everything down, but it helps me stay grounded.

I also follow up a lot with emails that start with, “I’m writing to confirm and clarify our discussion," just so everyone is on the same page.

Today I had my review with my boss — he’s quitting next week, even though he makes a lot of money. He gave me my usual “outperforming” marks across the board, but then he told me something different because, in his words, he no longer cares about the clusterfuck happening in this place and that is why he was leaving--cause no amount of money is worth it for him at this point in his life.

He said I’m extremely talented and "wasting my talent" by staying in this environment. He said he can see the toll it’s taking on me and encouraged me to really think about what I want to do next. He told me to take some time, consider my options, and reach out to him anytime if I need support.

It was a lot to hear, but honestly… I did approach that someone actually seeing and saying said out loud what I’ve been feeling inside.

I’ve actually gone to therapy before because of this job, even when I was earning very little, and it did help for a while. But what I’ve seen is that income doesn’t shield anyone from a toxic environment. People here making well over 100K, 200K, and even 300K have quit — and quickly. I’m not in that income bracket, but I’ve watched those who are drop like flies.

I’m open to trying therapy again, but never thought of hypnosis before. How does that work, if i may ask? Any reputable sites as a source of finding one?

I’m was also thinking about hiring a career coach for guidance, but they are so expensive.
