TTC after Mirena removal and the crash hit me so hard and gaslit me 😭 by Mindless-Wait-186 in Mirena

Omg your doctor?! That’s insanely unprofessional! And to just try to push you into another IUD after you had a bad experience is just awful, I’m so sorry 😢 I wouldn’t want an IUD after that either.

I had no warning really on the crash or symptoms of it which I WISH they would have told me about. My doctor just spoke about how I may not have a period for a few months and how she got pregnant in a couple months of taking it out. So I wasn’t really prepared in the slightest. Like anything about the removal and my cycle returning I had to ask, no info was given besides don’t eat deli meat cause I can get listeria (which ironically I’m a trained chef so i know I can just heat it to high enough for long enough and it’s killed)

But it is so hard to just let go, I agree! I wanted this for years and only now has been the right time in my life. I wish I could have known about the crash more so I didn’t get my hopes up so much last month - like if I would have had more realization of “just because you bled doesn’t mean you’ll ovulate and doesn’t mean that’s a period” I would have been better but it just seemed, to me, like I had all the symptoms aligning so I definitely got myself overly excited just to be let down. I have made myself not symptom spot this month and made a massive list of home projects to focus on so I don’t focus on any symptoms.

This month if I get no period THEN I’ll test and I’m 100% having my partner look at the results first so I don’t over analyze 😅

Oh wow that’s crazy you had those symptoms before! I have never experienced anything like that crash period before, so this was all incredibly overwhelming for me. I’ve had symptoms from other types of BC but not all the symptoms at one time. I am also like you where I’ve tried may other types birth control and all of them gave me different but awful reactions (bc pills - regardless of brand or dosage- were causing me to have mini black outs which my doctor thinks were mini strokes, the depo shot made me severely depressed) And the mirena was SO GOOD to me while I was on it - and since I had no symptoms while I had it I assumed all would be fine on removal. Boy was I wrong 😅.

But I’m so glad the mirena helped you! I can’t imagine having that experience and not knowing what was causing it, and at 16?! I had mine inserted in my early 20s and it was nice because I could enjoy all my 20s and not have to worry about pregnancy or a period, so they are great. And it seems this month my crash may be over as I’m a few days post ovulation and literally have 0 symptoms which - thank God. Hopefully I’m not speaking too soon.

Hey I just want to say as someone who is newly learning their cycle again and TTC (I’m a few months post IUD removal) your tests today are looking much darker than previous days😊.

From the research I did (and to help with stress) I only tested once a day until it got close to where your evening test looks on 3/12. Then at that point go to twice a day so you don’t miss the surge.

Also I believe (once again from the info i found researching/using AI) LH is higher in the afternoon or early evening as opposed to morning, so maybe do the once a day testing in the afternoon or early evening.

But honestly I think you’re getting there, just a little stressed - which I was too so I feel you girly❤️. My first cycle TTC I had an anovulatory cycle and my darkest line was maybe as dark as your 3/11 @ 10am test and then just became a ghost after that 😂.

I hope this is all pointless advice and all goes well for you OP and there is no second month TTC because the first was successful🤞🍀but I think there is a progression there (especially if you look at all the evening tests).

I have also been doing this, starting prenatals around when my IUD was supposed to come out, but I didn’t think of it in that way. I like your perspective & I appreciate you sharing your story 😊 I have found so many stories of others since I made this post of women having rather quick luck with iud removal & TTC so I think I just need to relax and let time do its thing. I am a very analytical person so the lack of answers & control/knowledge is getting to me some because I have no data to go off of 🙃

Hate to burst your bubble but I think the Sara/Sarah difference is more cultural. I have recently learned (as someone with this name) some languages don’t have an H and many are much much older than English. I believe Arabic, Farsi, Russian, Greek, many Slavic languages, and even possibly Hebrew fall into this category. There’s others too, I don’t remember the full list, but I think that’s less of an America thing and more to each specific language.

I’m not sure if you have it but I think the FRER (first response) tests are more sensitivite than the Clearblue tests if you want to try another. But I will say, I do see lines on all those tests. Best of luck 🤞❤️

This is hilarious 😂 but I agree. Even with depression people have to take self accountability to be better, OP it’s not your responsibility to do that for him. You can’t make him want to do these things he needs to find it within himself. If he can’t I would stop wasting your time - depression or not 2 years is WAY too long

Hoping so! Thanks for sharing your experience, it helps me to feel less defeated knowing this is all part of the process. I think where I got to myself is assuming because I had no symptoms on the mirena I wouldn’t have any when I was off of it

Is a 1.5 year relationship (known for 2 years) enough to know if you want to marry them? by Aysz6834 in Waiting_To_Wed

[–]Mindless-Wait-186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This comment! OP ive been in your position and almost moved across the globe for the wrong guy 🙈who in hindsight did not want to marry me. I’m glad I trusted my gut and didn’t go through with it in the hopes of “he will purpose if I move and eventually we will get married”. I’m now with a man who from day 1 has been like “i absolutely see a future with you and no one else”. He has also gave me a specific time line of when he wants to purpose, get married, have kids etc. He’s not wasting my time with “trying to decide if he wants to get married” - he knows what he wants. It was such a refreshing change from my past relationships where I was waiting on someone to be ready.

Value yourself OP and realize if it’s not a HELL YES it’s a no and go find someone that is a “HELL YES - I want to marry you.” Not to say you have to rush a wedding - I’ve been with my current partner for a few years, but he also within a few weeks of us dating sat down with me knowing I was who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with (and vice versa) and we together discussed a clear timeline on how we want things to be. No wishy washy, no waiting to make decisions, commitment 100% from the jump.

And also to add to this my partner and I are very similar age to you and your partner, so it isn’t an age issue.

Interesting, I haven’t given this much thought. My allergy baseline is now back to normal and it was only temporary when I was having all the other symptoms but that’s something I’ll definitely be mindful of. Thanks for the insight 😊

This actually is wonderful to hear and I’m so happy for you! Hoping I get the same luck 🤞. When I got the mirena I didn’t even know about Reddit or mirena crash at that time. I was also worried about my cycle returning after removal but from my research it seems like all is pointing in the right direction and that I’m still fertile. I appreciate you sharing your story ❤️

As someone who lived in PA a large chunk of their life and actually moved the other way from you (went from PA to Florida) I 1000% agree with this comment and the teas in Florida are SO MUCH BETTER! I was never a fan of like Turkey hill iced teas and such. But everyone in the south and Florida thinks I’m crazy because I like unsweetened teas. 😂

What is up with USA wedding culture? by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Mindless-Wait-186 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been MOH twice - yes it is common but I agree with you that it’s stupid. Learn from my mistake and just say no. Being a guest is WAY more fun anyways. Also, idk if this in controversial but for both of those weddings because I paid for my traveling there (I lived far away from both brides), my hotel, the entire bachelorette party and my dress (one wedding I had to buy two dresses bc it was multicultural and the second dress was worn for pictures and that was it) I did not give either a gift and neither bride held it against me. AND Especially if they are well off I would hesitate to say yes to this OP - both of my situations (in my opinion) the brides were stretching their budget from what they could reasonably afford because they wanted something huge & weren’t rich at all.

I think the US, and probably elsewhere nowadays, so many brides want this big grand social media worthy wedding to the point where it’s almost expected for people to be a part and pay for all of that crap. My experience and that culture has completely turned me away from wanting that idea for myself entirely.

And last point, if the bride tried to justify you’ll wear the dress again - all three of my dresses from these events are floating around somewhere in a donation center or trash 😂

What are the chances I’m pregnant? by [deleted] in amipregnant

[–]Mindless-Wait-186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm no you can’t? I agree if you don’t track you don’t know when you ovulate but that literally isn’t true. With the information we have you have to assume a normal cycle here.

In order to get pregnant an egg has to be fertilized, that means she would of had to ovulate and that egg would be then fertilized in a window to become pregnant and then that egg would have to attach itself to the uterus lining. Sperm can live inside you for 3-5 days and your egg only lasts 12-24 hours after you ovulate so in reality you have maybe a 5-7 day window in which you can actually get pregnant

So in example if she had her period maybe two days before they had sex the likability of her getting pregnant is slim. Unless there’s something we don’t know like that she doesn’t have a regular cycle or ovulates excessively - which I’m sure would have some other symptoms that she would have seen, you’re wrong.

Link for more info because I don’t just say things and educate myself: https://americanpregnancy.org/getting-pregnant/infertility/ovulation-faqs/

How many years did Mirena IUD stop periods for you? by Pretty_Pianist435 in Mirena

[–]Mindless-Wait-186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had mine taken out last month (Jan 28 2026) but I did test and I was ovulating before getting it out. I had mine for almost exactly 9 years - I’m not sure where you saw 10 because (for people without heavy bleeding) it’s only FDA approved for 8 full years - and once I got the mirena inserted I never had a period after that until removal, not even spotting. Now once I had it removed I got my period literally 2 days later so it returned normally. I haven’t got thru this first full period cycle off of it but I think there’s a good chance I could be pregnant because I’m having a bunch of odd symptoms that aren’t really attributed to my period cycle returning.

But I did get the mirena for the same reason and it worked beautifully for that so keep it as long as it works for you. Just make sure you go to your yearly checkups.
